It just rained here tuesday and am wondering when would be the best time to go look for Libs? I was thinking of going today.

Can I get an id on these please? I am pretty sure the are P. sem/Liberty caps but am not sure yet. I am taking a spore print right now so I wont know for a day or so what color the spores are. I also found some puffballs? Id for those too.
My harvest from today, going tomorrow too.

those are definatly NOT liberty caps, and the picture you posted looks nothing like liberty caps to me..

Ya I am starting to think they arent either, they dont have the niple that libs have. someone was talking about some pan species in another post and I am thinking it is what these are. Oh well It was fun going out.

the white one with the purple spores looks more like an agaricus..a meadow mushroom i believe..they are edible but not active..you find this in a cow pasture?

The last pic, the one with the pink gills,looks like an agaricus.Probably the one called the Meadow mushroom in the Audubon field guide.I can't recall the actual scientific name.The others may be just younger specimens of the same species.I'm just guessing on this.

This is what I think they are, look alot like the ones I got. Yes I did find them in a field of a state park I live by, tons of buffalo there and I went to a field that they just grazed in and found them, I was so excited as soon as we stepped out of the car bam there was a pie with tons of shrooms. We definatly could have picked alot more, but it got dark and cold. Anyways it was still fun and col just to get out there and worth the seven dollars I paid to get in.

I'm pretty sure the white one is a meadow mushroom - agaric type. Choice edible. Saute that sucker up, amigo.

Im thinking that I am not going to eat any of them. If I find out later that they were edible when I get a Manual then I'll get more. Thanks everyone

hahah yes a mushroom picking manual is always a good thing! I have never heard a mushroom guide called a manual and for some reason at this point in the day i find it highly amusing.
