hey,
today i found some mushrooms in my backyard. i'll try to explain them the best i can, and tomorrow, i'll put some pics up.
CAP ~ 1 - 3 cm, light brown at the apex, fading to white around the edges, quite conical, but with a more extreme tip to it, very closely resembling a volcano
STEM ~ very thin, light brown, no bluing was noticed, however, bluing could occur, as not enough time was allowed
SPORES ~ the spore print was faint, but it look fairly white, maybe a more cremish color
GILLS ~ Light Brown-ish
HABITAT ~ i live in the souhteast, and we have just recieved very large amounts of rain, the shrooms were found under a deck, cool-ish, moist, dark
OTHER ~ i noticed that when the caps were wet, you could see the gills through them, rather transparent
thanks in advance!, ill have pics up tommorow

A few questions:
What were they growing on? Soil, wood, leaves, ...? Are the gills attached to the stem or free from it? If attached, do they run down the stem or more just straight into it? Is there any odor to them? If you break the stem, does some juice ooze out? If so, what color?
Let us know.
-------------------- Happy mushrooming!

thanks for the quick reply,
they are growing in soil. the gills ARE attached to the stem, and they run straight into it. They have a weak odor, much like that of a common mushroom you would buy at the supermarket. Juice DOES "ooze" out if the stem is broken. It appears to be clear in color.
Thanks again

Without a photo and a bunch more questions and answers we won't get much of an ID. What you're describing sounds generally lika a Mycena, but there are a pile of very similar genera which it could be a member of. If you could post a photo or three it would help at least get us to genus maybe.
