They look just like my PE BRF cakes...definitely looks like PE to me.  My first flush looked very similar to yours, although I had a few knots as well on the first flush.  I've got 7 cakes still going, hoping for a third flush.  My yield has been terrible so far - I'm not sure about exact amount since I didn't get a decent scale until this weekend, but I would guess somewhere around 10-15 grams dry is the total I got from all 7 cakes over two flushes.  They were all tiny too - biggest was maybe 2-3" when veil was torn and cap starting to darken.

I think my cakes were too dry initially, although I DID dunk & roll after birthing.  I use a standard SGF, but it's been hard to keep humidity up since humidity in my house is around 36%.  I was misting and fanning as much as I could since I'm out of the house for 10 hours a day.  I noticed a HUGE change by adding an ultrasonic humidifier on a timer (15 minutes out of every 2 hours), and an oscillating fan on a timer as well (set to come on for 15 minutes a little while after every time the ultrasonic shuts off).  The fruits on the second flush responded very well to the ultrasonic (I installed it mid-flush), so I'm hoping the third flush might still be decent.

Next project I've got going is PE in rye quarts (colonizing now), and will spawn to bulk using Damian5050's tek but with my SGF&ultrasonic.

Lakotis..Im am doing the exact same as you..I didnt dunk mine long enough and to make up for it i misted TOO much and raised the humidity higher than it should have been..I picked 2 last night that look exactly like yours did..and i should have waited..i have 4 more fuits that have opened and matured more, and that wavyness is going away!! anyway i think they were just a little immature. But people say that is the best time to pick for consumption anyway. So im gonna let these go a little more to flatten the caps out some and get a print.the rest are for munching!!

I flipped some of my cakes. they seem to be doing fine.

no ... because you are not going to get any there this flush anyway ... after your set is declared thats it till the next ... your cakes in particular are in optimal condidtions so leave them alone ! lol

now if your pins were around the edges of the top then yeah id go for it but they are in the perfect spot as is ...

try doing it on your second flush attempt ...

Pins grow where they like the conditions, if you change the conditions they might not like it and stop growing.

thanks for the replies guys. i picked about 40 wet this a.m. I also have a question about picking...i know i dont leave any of the mushroom and if it breaks then i have to dig it out correct?

Next question is: Do put back in FC when i pick the ones that are ready? I still have pins or little mushrooms...or Do I pick all the little mushrooms off? Just dont know how/when to "start" my "second flush"

Do not start digging in the cake just try your best to get most of it off, any small amounts of left over mushroom on the cakes is fine.

As for what to do after picking, usually you pick then dunk the cake for 24 hours between flushes, small pins can survive a 24 hour dunk

Yea I would, the cakes needs moisture to be replenished, you can place the cake in a saucer of water overnight

Heh, yeah they didn't look very penis like after all. I'm actually experiencing the same thing with some of my MS PE cakes, and a test tray. I think I finally have a fruit that looks like Penis (Kind of), I may clone that, or just wait till I do some Agar work on this new syringe I picked up.



They say that these suppliers grew PE but tend to get the most spores from fruit that has lost most of its penis like appearance. This then perpetuates a non penis like appearance in its offspring.

I have no Idea if selectively cloning and or isolating can ever regain its intended appearance... Perhaps Penis genetics are still there, just recessive? Hope this Syringe is better!
