Problems after ecstasy
    #13238302 -

Hey guys, my last time popping a bean was 7/23/10, exactly two months ago. Before I decided to stop I was doing it regularly about 1-2 pills max every week.
In about a period of two months, I had gone through a total of 10 rolls. Two of which were tested MDA capsules. The last couple of pills were not as enjoyable as when
I first started. My tolerance was going up, the come downs were getting worse. And MDMA started to become a lousy drug so I quit. I am not someone who usually gets depressed.
But even after my last pill, the come down was starting to make me feel suicidal for a few days afterwards. Although I see myself getting somewhat better day by day, I am still having some memory problems, and I feel as if I have less emotion than before I started using ecstasy.
My question is if you think the damage I have done is permanent? Is it possible for me to roll again like the first time? Is MDMA tolerance permanent? And lastly, are there any supplements you can recommend(besides Piracetam) to help me recover faster? How long should I wait until I am able to roll again?

Whats wrong with you:
Ecstasy affects the part of your brain that you use for memory resulting in memory loss.
Why your emotions are lessened:
When you take ecstasy, your brain releases a large amount of serotonin. Serotonin is a monoamine neurotransmitter, biochemically derived from tryptophan, that is primarily found in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, platelets, and central nervous system (CNS) of humans and animals. It is a well-known contributor to feelings of well-being.When ecstasy is taken excessively, your brain uses up alot of serotonin and in the process burns up neurotransmitters (the ones that produce the chemical) resulting in a deficiency of serotonin. Serotonin controls your mood, appetite, sleep pattern and so forth.
What you need to do:
Stop ecstasy for 1year. I have been in the same boat, except I used to go thought ten packs in a weekend.
What you should take:
5Htp, this you can get at CVS or any drug store. I recommend the 200mg time release ones. Take one a day till you start feeling more happy. 5Htp helps your brain balance your serotonin levels and makes your life more enjoyable. As far as you feeling the way you did the first time on X, I say you never will feel as good as you did your first time. I restrict my self to one roll a year with nothing but pure molly and I feel great but never like my 1st time. MDMA is not good in large amounts. It plays with your life too much. Take a break!

Hope that helps.

This has come up a lot lately. I think the only thing MDMA does to your brain, provided it's not mixed with other crap, is bring serotonin levels down, creating an imbalance in the brain. I'm pretty sure there's no evidence to suggest it is responsible for neurological damage or permanent neurological changes. But there's trials going on to investigate its therapeutic value. http://www.maps.org/research/ It certainly can have permanent psychological changes though - you see life more positively (you realise it can be very FUN), you may break down social barriers or inhibitions, and you get psychologically addicted to that state of bliss.

5HTP helps to bring the serotonin levels back to baseline faster. Try that.

The guy that synthensised MDMA said only a couple of rolls a year. But you, like many people, including me, already broke that barrier in one night.

But man, you should know from the experience, it's a HARD drug, it really pushes your limits. You get the feeling that surely abusing it is going to be like beating yourself to death.

Then look at it another way. Life is a downhill trip. You're going to die. Maybe there's an afterlife but this biological 'thing' you're in isn't going to last forever. Party hard.

Just stop when it gets suicidal, because that's ending the trip too soon.

like they said... take 5htp, vitamins, and no more MDMA for awhile and you'll be back to normal before you know it. the thing i find about drug-induced depression is that it feels so real and that there's a reason for it so it'll never go away.. have faith brother you'll feel better soon

from what ive heard/read it is good practice to take vitamin c any time you plan on using e because it can help prevent serotonin receptors from becoming incapable of binding to serotonin released synapses.

also 5HTP I am pretty sure is something you take after... using e. like the next morning, or when you go to sleep.

I am pretty sure there are other measures one could take. I would try to stay hydrated and well nourished throughout the entire trip if I were to take ecstacy. if your case OP.... a long break will probably suffice to bring you back to your normal self.

Don't take MDMA for atleast a year. If you decide to start taking it again, then wait a long time between rolls (3 months = 4 rolls per year).

The thing about certain drugs, especially MDMA, is that the later times are never as good/strong as the first. Even after the first couple of times, you start to get diminishing returns. IMO, MDMA is a drug which you should space far apart, so it doesn't lose it's "magic'. I find doing so makes the trip better, because it is less familiar - so it will be closer to your first time. It also makes sense to do this on a physiological level.

Mushrooms and MDMA both act on serotonin (aka 5-HT) pathways. Mushrooms mimic the 5-HT molecule, and cause binding to receptors. MDMA on the other hand, flushes 5-HT out of select neurons. The effect of both is increased 5-HT receptor signaling. Note that mushrooms cause these receptors to signal all over the brain (think of a flood), but MDMA causes them to signal only in certain areas (think of a contained flood).

The consequence of increased binding is changes in receptor sensitivity, which will correct itself fairly rapidly (days - 1 week). However, since MDMA flushes out the body's own 5-HT, it takes a little longer to build up back to normal levels. As far as permanent damage, there is no conclusive evidence either way, but I think you should be ok. There is a story about someone who took 40 THOUSAND ecstasy pills in 9 years: He became a little demented, but not a vegetable. This shows you shouldn't worry TOO much, but don't model your usage on this guy!

so basically, lay off the E for a while, and don't do it often.
