I'm pretty sure they themselvs would like to live as opposed to being
killed in drug war shootouts or illegals/coyotes that want to get across
the border safely, I'm sure they also wouldnt like to have their cattle
slaughtered, their homes robbed as well as any number of other property
crimes that are currently being committed against them every day

why not ask them if they want to lose 100yds of land to the new border
defense system and see what their opinions are since we're not
authorized to speak for them

until the government starts enforcing the current laws on immigration
this stuff will continue to happen, so while employers may be hiring
them, government isnt enforcing any laws requiring that they verify

crime so those employers havent committed a crime which means that
seizing the property of those landowner would be a violation of their
rights as outlined in the 5th amendment

Indeed.  That is how nations are formed.  White Anglo-Saxon Protestants founded this land, not on any great ideals of liberty and equality, but on genocide and wholesale slaughter.  Then they created a historical narrative to justify it.  It's been done a thousand times.

And they did it "illegally", by breaking treaties and claiming land from sovereign nations as their own, then going to war over it.  But so what?  Now the government they founded decides what is legal and what is not. Now America has a diverse citizenship, arbitrary citizenship standards, and a self-righteous, historically ignorant vendetta against immigration from Mexico and Central America.  Fine.  I accept the realpolitik of it.  It's all about money.  Money for us, not them.  It's just hilarious when people say it's "unfair" and "unjust" for Mexicans to take Americans' jobs.

I don't know, from the little I've read on it, it seems as though their just shifting the focus from all illegals to violent offenders specifically. I mean, lets face it, we just don't have the capacity to export everyone. I don't think a beurocratic solution has any chance of being effective.

I think a number of things need to happen.

* The process for attaining citizenship needs to be cleaned up. I really like the point system that Canada uses, though I think it's too strict. I'm all for immigration, thee will and determination to travel across the world to start over in a foreign county is exactly the kind mental strength this country was founded on and still needs today. 

* A legit foreign worker program with an annual fee/tax needs to be put in place,  with the option of enrolling in classes as part of a possible path to citizenship.

* Companies that hire illegals should be confiscated and sold at auction, and some type of fine should be levied against individuals that do so that is so severe no one would think of violating it no matter how wealthy they are.

* For the people who are already here, they should be required to enroll in the documented worker program, or remove themselves from the country. Anyone found here after say a year from the institution of the program should be sentenced to a labor camp to work off the cost of being processed and returned to their country of origin. 

* Being born in this country to parents who are not citizens should not automatically make anyone a citizen. It may have made sense at one point, but those days are over.

* An end to the so called drug war. Prohibition never works, and banning nature is just fucking asinine. All it does is create a market for predators.

* Also, free tacos for me, for life. This is absolutely essential.

Illegal immigration is a minor issue, at least in comparison to other problems this country has.

it isn't anything new, the Indians used to call it "white people"

in all seriousness there are more illegal asians in this country than mexicans, in fact an article in the paper spoke of the issue, and the main kid they where talking about was asian, from an asian country.

it spoke of the barriers they face, etc, far cry from the bullshit of using our near nonexistent welfare system, since immigrants get nothing.

the real answer is cut the fucking bureaucracy of it all, most people don't cross the border most stay on Visas, or brought here when kids and never leave, etc.

The so called "Republicans" in this country just want more bureaucracy, when ICE is already overwhelmed and can't do shit, the real answer is to just make it easier to become a citizen. Therefore they won't be illegal.

If the only laws they have broken are arbitrary paperwork laws and crossing the border or failing to leave, then fuck that.

You would be surprised how often the fact that someone is not a citizen keeps them out of any real trouble, and generally just bars them from getting insurance, in say, a traffic accident, then the party that was hit is fucked.

I do agree that granting instant citizenship is a terrible idea for the reasons you mentioned.

We should also clear up the beauracracy, and then that makes it easier to find the REAL criminals.

If you become a citizen and break a law, like a misdemeanor, that isn't really enough to say that you are a bad citizen and should be deported, on some kind of point system, it just breeds bias and contempt.

Obviously don't make it instant, but make it a lot easier for those here illegally to get legal, those that don't can be more easily identified and rectified.
