Salvia Stem too thin
    #1308825 -

I have been growing a cutting of Salvia for a while now and it is thriving....however the plant is growing too fast and the main stem can't seem to catch up. It appears to be too thin. I am worried that the plant will fall under its own weight. Is this normal or do I need to take measures? Thanks!!!!!

what you can do is cut it up in a few pieces and  make cuttings, that way you'll have more plants too

You can cut off the very top of fthe plant, that should allow for growth of the lower portion rather than continued upward growth.

I would transplant it into another bigger pot and cover soil up higher on the plant. it would be more stable that way, and also get a better root system.

When the plant is young you need to give it strong wind by the use of a fan. It needs to shake and wobble. This will cause the stem to get fatter and stronger.
