Daylight CFL

hello,

I have just bought this CFL bulb because it was the strongest I could find.

it says it is 1,150 lumens. I heard about the temperature before, wich is 6,500k and should be enough but should I worry about the lumens? will this bulb do the trick?

the lamp is about 70cm above my monotub.

That bulb will be just fine.

Try not to stress out about lighting....as long as you have a bulb that is rated 6500k you should be fine.

What RR has said is to try and supply the fruiting substrate with a minimum of 2000 lux.

What you have to do to find how much lux your FC is receiving:

1) Measure your FC's length and width and then convert to feet

2) Take those measurements and multiply to get square feet

3)Find the initial/total lumen rating for your bulb (you said it's rated 1,150 lumens

4) Find how many lumens per square foot your FC is receiving

For example,my 18 gallon monotub measures 18" x 12" which coverts to 1.5' x 1' which when multiplied means we have a fruiting chamber that takes up 1.5 square feet.

5) Divide your total amount of lumens that the bulb is rated by the number of square feet your FC takes up

Again mine takes up 1.5 square feet,divide that by your bulbs rated 1,150 initial lumens  and the result we get is 766.66667 lumens per square foot.

6) Once you know how many lumens per square foot your FC is receiving it is time to open this link to a handy Lux to Lumen per square foot conversion calculator.

In the box that is labeled "lumen/square foot [lm/ft2]" enter the amount of lumens per square foot,and the lux will automatically be calculated in the top box.

Again with the example...your bulb rated 1,150 initial lumens over my FC which takes up 1.5 square feet.....1,150 / 1.5 = 766.66667 lumens per square foot...once I enter the 766.66667 lumens per square foot in the lumen per square foot box I get a Lux result of 8,252.3313 lux.....that bulb is more then fine...no worries bro.But get it a little closer to your FC...maybe 4" to 6" above it.

Move it closer.  Move it as close as you can without causing heating inside.  Probably around 10 cm will be just right.

I will need to get plexiglass because I didn't have any at hand. So i used some cheap plaric for the moment. Does the trick but wouldn't want it to melt haha.

Is it a bad idea to mount a small CFL to the inside of the lid of a shotgun FC?

Even a CFL produces heat, and probably too much to be inside a terrarium.  Put the lamp within a few inches of the terrarium, but not inside.  Of course, there's also the problem of having electricity inside a very high humidity environment, but the heat is enough reason not to.

not trying to jack the thread but i only use 15 min light a day do people even need more then that if not then if its in a closet open it for a few while your watching a tv show. i never do more then 15 min a day and have nope problems maybe i need to add more light im pulling 5 bags a mono on 1st flush

What is 5 "bags" that can mean five 1 gram bags to 5 ounces bags...so what are these 5 "bags" that you speak of.

It has been proven time and time again that 12 on/12 off of 6500k light is the optimum lighting schedule.
