Doctor Mengele
    #12816469 -

I watched a film about Mengele's interest in twins yesterday and I got interested in his biography. Well I got interested in the butcher aspects.

Quote:
Mengele's experiments also included attempts to take one twin's eyeballs and attach them to the back of the other twin's head, changing eye colour by injecting chemicals into children's eyes, various amputations of limbs, and other brutal surgeries.

I got curious if anyone knows any movies about Mengele. Not documentaries, but something more like a horror.

So any recommendations?

I did a report on him in 10th grade, it was 11 pages double spaced, and fucked if I remember any of it.   I just remember it being some seriously twisted research.  That guy is textbook mad scientist...

No shit

There was pretty much nothing scientific about his experiments. He used his power to morph into a butcher madman. Performing operations without anaesthesia in order to extract a human fetus from a living mother.

This guy was a mess.

The worst part is the the medical ethics involved trying to determine if we should use some of the useful data that DID come out of his madness; For instance, the knowledge of how a human body reacts to freezing temperatures and below is based primarily off of nazi experiments... should we disregard medical truths and useful data that might help someone else, even though that data was achieved through evil means?

It shouldn't be disregarded, but it shouldn't be hailed either.  Just take it as fact and move on.  Same thing with animal testing.  It's horrible, but it's not something the average human being can do anything about, and if useful data comes out of it then it should still be used.  If science were to run on ethics alone I think we'd be 100 years before our time, not ahead of it.

Most of his data was wrong though. Look up Professor Popsicle.

Just like animal testing except for the fact that one's a crime against humanity and one is a little unpleasant. Please don't go all peta on me, man. I've never been as pissed off in my entire life as when I saw their ad campaign with pictures of cows in pens and pictures of starving Jews in concentration camps next to it.

Ethically, the life of a bunny rabbit isn't worth 1/1000th of what the life of a human is worth, and that human could be a child molester. Of course, one child molester isn't worth 1/1000th of a non-molester. My point is that each of us is probably worth more than 1,000,000 bunnies.

On a serious note, without animal testing we'd pretty much have no medical science.

And on the note of unethical research being incredibly useful, check out Colonel John Stapp. Guy decided to find out how much acceleration the human body could take by outfitting a rocket sled with monster brakes and doing it himself. Unethical, wicked important research. Has saved hundreds of lives with ejection seats.

Of course we should not disregard the data. I remember when I was in Germany this anatomy professor speaking about a massive embryological collection. I don't remember in which German town it was but basicaly the nazi killed pregnant women in each day of pregnancy. And they killed 5 of them for better statistical analysis. Then the allies accidentally dropped a bomb over the university where the collection was held.

This amazing collection of human embryos of each day of pregancy was destroyed :nonono:

  Don't worry, I'm FAAAR from PETA, I just meant the disposal of lives in general in the name of science.

I just wikipedia'd Mengele to come across this:

"When Menegele was born, it was annouced that he was gonna be known as the Juden3xt3rmintor. Why is unknown, but his brother, a black jew born in Sweden with fully swedish backgrounds is probably the best football player in the world."
