Fess up: how many of you have forged a doctors note for work/school?
    #4343034 - 06/27/05 02:47 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

This is inspired by Irradiated_Feces thread about forging a parking sticker.

I once forged a doctors note for missing three days of work when I was 18. My mom works at a hospital, so I just stole one of the logo's off the newsletters she gets from them, copied, pasted and then copied and printed this neat little square of paper that looked very official and excused me from work.

I got the idea from a 30 yr old dude who never goes into work and yet still gets paid. Not the most morally responsible thing to do, but I wanted to keep my job and yet still have a mini-vacation.

Has anyone else done something so reprehensible?

Oh yeah, I used to forge doctors notes, notes from my mom, everything to get out of class in high school. But, my personal favorite was leaving at the same time the rest of my classmates did one day, they were leaving for a 4 day CCD trip, a retreat for catholics. I left too, and I'm jewish. They never caught on.

I was truent all the time in high school, but I never bothered to forge notes.  I just allowed myself to be sent to Student Discipline.  Much more fun then 'regular' classes.

I once got a sick note to miss a final in University, it was suprisingly easy and hassle free. I actually was pretty sick but still could have wrote the exam.

It worked out to my re write final was 1/5 th shorter then my classmates.

I used to look up all these medical procedures that only boys could have, with complicated names, and forge doctors notes stating that I was having these procedures, and would be out for X amount of days.

The last time I did it, my teacher confronted me the day I came back, and asked how my operationg on my testicles went, smirking. I just laughed and congratulated her for finally catching on.

We never had to forge notes at my school. If you missed a day, you missed a day that was it. No one really cared. Alabama school systems are good for fucking around but very very bad for learning.

Well seeing as how I've never called in sick at my work yet and now they want a doctors note because people have been faking so often and if not they take it from your vacation, I would consider forging a doctors note only because I don't believe in going the doctor for a cold or flu. That's weak and a waste of our doctors precious time.

goobler, I get the impression you're the kind of boss who, if approached by an employee asking for a day or two off once in a great while, would have no problem with that, especially if there was a good reason for it. Not all bosses are like that. Hence the mass forging of notes. You've NEVER played hooky EVER? :smirk:

goobler works more in a week than I have in the past 3 years.

My high school was a Montessori school, I don't know if that is common in America, but anyway... it's about self responsibility and I was allowed to write my own "I was sick" notes because my parents gave me permission. I was always 'sick' at Tuesdays and Thursdays because that were the long and boring days. I always wrote that I had to go to the dentist or had the flu. I got high grades so nobody cared.

I had 3 school days per week, which was pretty cool
