So i just got a job

With this company vector marketing. Apparently theyve been accused of scamming in the past and it seems pretty credible. The entire thing including the interview seems too good to be true. Im not sure what i should do, it's not like every day someone waves 15 bucks an hour in your face, but i also dont want to waste my time if it's not worth it. What's a nigga to do?

I never went for it myself, but pretty much everyone from my high school class got those letters after we graduated or around that time... which just makes one wonder. If they have to try that hard to find employees, something probably isn't right. Especially if they are/were targeting young, naive kids right out of school. If your desperate I guess it doesn't hurt to feel it out, but don't get your hopes up.

so you guys have some experience with this company? im gonna call the guy tomorrow and tell him ive got some concerns. Ive been out of work for over a year and i finally get an interview and it's this bullshit.

Honestly, for kicks, I called them up when I was out of work too. There are only two kinds of jobs that require no information before an interview, telemarketing and vector style selling shit. Both will likely fuck you over. All my friends that have worked for them quit.

A main reason why: You get paid by appointment, and if you sell. The appointment isn't really pay, it just covers the expenses, due to the fact you have to get there to a person's house. No one cares about their knives due to the outrageous price for knives that you could get a better deal on somewhere else. Most will interview family and friends, find no one else wants to hear a sales pitch and then quit. Forgot if the one friend got stuck with a set of knives or not, I cannot remember if they make you buy a set to display or not.

Not sure if they sell anything else, but it will be way overpriced, decent quality, but no where near worth buying.

Vector loves to hire students that need a summer job between high school and college, naive and in need of money, many fall for it.

I just never met a person who left that company without getting fucked in the ass.

If you ask the people of your concerns, they have heard it all and have responses to sugar coat everything. Those that are on the telephone have to try and get you in and make you sell or their job is in trouble.

I went to their "interview" myself when I was just out of school about ten years ago.  Amazing their still plying their bullshit.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a scam, but it does suck.  They expect you to sell good, but very overpriced knives to your family.  They suggest starting with your family and getting referrals but usually it stops with the family.  And they will give you zero help getting new referrals.

I almost got into this vector thing, I scheduled the interview and then I called them back the next day and said I had an emergency.  They asked when they could reschedule and I said that I would call them back.  I never did.  I learned from friends and the internet that vector is a waste of time.  I wonder why they are still afloat with all the negative rep?


I also heard you had to give them money to sell their product. If you see anyone doing that, that means it is an immediate scam.  They should give you money to sell their product not the other way around.

you gotta buy a selling kit which cost 200$ last i heard... then you are supposed to sell this shit to family and friends who feel bad or are trying to be supportive (usually vector targets young kids for this reason) you are better off jsut to ask your family to borrow money then to dump this shit on them.

i walked out on the vector interview.

I did sell kirby vacuums before that and that was a gold mine for about a week or two. then we started going to trailor parks...as you can imagine its hard to sell a $2100 dollar vacuum in a trailor park to mexicans lol. I would watch as poor people would try to finance these fucking things. I was fresh out of high school and didn't know whati was doing really. looking back it was horrible i probably enslaved those poor people to the finance companies. But hey i made a grand in two weeks and had a lot of fun the rest of the summer.

i've worked one job similar, got fucked in the ass, the money earned was enough to cover the costs, pay my bills, and have one cheap night out. And for the hours put in, it wasn't worth it at all.  plenty of companies are doing similar thangs these days.

haha, I did this a few years ago, for about a month.  If you're a social person and able to make connections quickly, then you can do well at this.  I knew people who were banking.  But if you are in any way anti-social, you won't be able to find more people to spiel to about knives and won't make any money.
