Because you have to be arrogant to see the bullshit in something, right? :imslow:

No, but to dismiss centuries of spiritual tradition because it doesn't fit your worldview...

They also don't fit anything that can be tested in any ways.

Anything form of human activity that allegedly affects physical reality can be tested. Imaginary horsehit cannot be tested - you got that right.

I agree, science does dismiss a lot of the subjective human experience.

Logic is best.  We call that fallacy the excluded middle.

A person's religious beliefs should have no bearing on their leadership qualities.

So you're cool with Ronald Reagan's consulting an astrologer to decide national policy? Wow.

Got link?  Falsehoods don't make much of an argument.

Next you'll tell me Jim Jones would have made a good president.

From your link.

Nah, I'd rather have a nutcase believer than a fool.

Got link?  Falsehoods don't make much of an argument.

It's common knowledge that the Reagans believed in astrology, Nancy more so. And if you think Ronald was not influenced by his wife and their astrologers, no link I show you will convince you.

But for the rest of the audience:

In his memoir, For the Record, former White House Chief of Staff Donald T. Regan wastes no time before dropping his biggest bombshell. "Because actions that would otherwise bewilder the reader cannot be understood in its absence," writes Regan in a foreword, "I have revealed in this book what was probably the most closely guarded domestic secret of the Reagan White House."

The secret: First Lady Nancy Reagan's reliance on a San Francisco astrologer to determine the timing of the President's every public move. This was more than a charming eccentricity shared with the 50 million or so other Americans who, casually or in dead earnest, look to the alignment of the stars for guidance. As White House chief of staff for two years, before he was forced to resign in February 1987, Regan was in a position to see how the First Lady's faith in the astrologer's pronouncements wreaked havoc with her husband's schedule. At times, he writes, the most powerful man on earth was a virtual prisoner in the White House.

Donald Regan never knew the name of the "Friend," as Nancy Reagan referred to her astrologer. But TIME learned last week that she is Nob Hill Socialite Joan Quigley, sixtyish, a Vassar graduate who has written three books on astrology.

So what? He's not exactly credible. He founded "The Peoples Temple Christian Church Full Gospel".

Also from that link:

On December 13, 1973, Jones was arrested and charged with soliciting a man for sex in a movie theater bathroom known for homosexual activity... Jones is on record as later telling his followers that he was "the only true heterosexual"

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

It's common knowledge that a lot of lies are told about former presidents.  You have no real evidence for that other than some disgruntled former employee.

From Wiki:

Quote:
Regan, who frequently quarreled with Nancy Reagan, resigned in 1987 after the Iran-Contra affair and mixed reviews of his job performance. Although some claimed his revelations were meant as revenge, Regan revealed to the nation that Mrs. Reagan consulted Quigley in his autobiography For The Record.

I thought what a person did sexually had nothing to do with how he did his job as president.  :smirk:

I don't see how praying is going to hurt the situation.
So now it's up to the people of the state; if they like this action and the results, keep voting for these gys.

You asked for a link. I linked Time Magazine. As I predicted nothing I present will convince you.

I thought what a person did sexually had nothing to do with how he did his job as president.

You said he claimed to be an atheist, the facts show he was a bible thumper. And he claimed to be straight, the facts show he was into men.

It goes to credibility not orientation. Try to keep up. :smirk:

This isn't the argument from personal credulity.  Nothing will convince me?  Try a reputable source.  :smirk:

I didn't claim he was an atheist.  That is what the sources say.  Your argument of sexual orientation was little more than a Red Herring.

You can't fight facts with fiction.

It continues a discourse that is known to be entirely defunct for such a situation.

For the same reasons that when five thousand people die in some natural human-related catastrophe and five survive, then those five blame their survival on prayer and cannot articulate why their god was better than the other four-thousand or so with their shared delusion/faith and they were saved from "his grace", we all go:

PPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffftttttttttttttt

Prayer hurts reactions to these things for the same reason getting drunk at nine in the morning hurts my productivity level on a given day.

It may be worth the time for them, but this is all PR and masturbatory. No help comes from praying. Or if it does, God is a bitch. A lose-lose either way.

Are you sure that prayer doesn't offer psychological relief to those who have lost everything?

When there is no logical reason to be optimistic, why not come up with an illogical one if it lets you carry on?
