I used to be really big into vinyl, but at this point I refuse to pay for music let alone buy a record player and records.  I'd rather save my money to use on live music.

I get most of my live music for free, so buying vinyl is my way of supporting bands who aren't getting my money via concert tickets.  I like buying vinyl best at merch tables at concerts because I know the band is using the money to put gas in their van the next day.

Gotta support them some way.
I can't wait until they stop making CDs all together and just start making audio DVDs.  Not as good as records, but a lot better than CDs.

yup i agree almost 100%

i still like to pick up rare vinyls and shit that you simply cannot just pirate online, although most records you can find online now-a-days, there are still some rarities.

Thats what I'm fucking talking about

If I like a band I have to support them somehow!  And I aint gonna buy a CD

I help promote the shows here locally, so I aint gonna buy a ticket

But handing the drummer ten-twenty bucks for a sweet ass piece of recorded history
I just witnessed?  Win.

God i love my vinyls, and finally people who agree it sounds better! Just sounds more authentic to me. I must go listen to my Beatles box set now XD (only ever played by me, original shrink wrapping, WOO)  :headbang:

The whole album experience - what a beautiful thing.

I remember when Vinyl first hit me over the head - I went to a show on campus, a band called Shout Out! Out! Out! Out! was playing. Loved it. Danced like a fool. Went up to the merch table and asked for a CD. Nope. Just this weird thin disc thing. Ok. Thought process 'I need to figure this thing out for real'.

Thats when it started even though it took me 6 more months to find a table.

Yesterday I picked up The Black Jaspers (King Khan side project) and James Brown's Popcorn and Black Caesar.

These thin disc things are neat.

Anyone else notice that vinyl sounds better when it's colored :smirk:

I'm a vinyl colour fiend too.

Some of my prizes are a Black Moth Super Rainbow pink and blue swirl (the jacket even came with scratch and sniff stickers), a Black Mould / Chad Van Galen earth and blue swirl, and my Brian Jonestown pure White suckers.

That being said, sometimes my auto stylus arm does not pickup/read where the record is on some of my translucent coloured albums.

A minor inconvience to look at something that pretty.

Does anyone else get that with their coloured guys?

Lastly, I use a classic phonograph so i didn't even know there were "auto stylus's"

And I shall not go into my color collection, HOWEVER since you mentioned them I am a crazy BMSR
fan   I have the record you speak of, also the scratch n sniff "Drippers" Ep, the "dont you want to be in
a cult" single (with BMSR pic on both sides, No 602, which is my area code ) the brand new "Eating us"
which is crazy chrome colored!  AND I have "The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed" which is etched all
awesome on one side

THAT BEING SAID, that barely dents my color collection ;p

My absolute favorites is my Beatles white album, original press white vinyl.
I am stopping myself before I sound like any more of a junkie.

Auto tone arm, its a push button auto tracking thingy deal.

I have drippers and don't you want to be in a cult too but for whatever reason don't remember drippers having a scratch and sniff .... maybe its a reissue.... but I doubt it.

No!  I'm not doubting your records authenticity   They press anywhere from the first 300 to 1000 of each vinyl release with something
extra about them.  My Drippers has a catsup scratch n sniff on it hehe.
