Atheism
    #12509330 -

Can you really say it's just as poor scientifically to have belief that there is definetly no god as having faith that there is definetly a god? A lot of agnostics seem to lump the two into the same categorie and I just don't see it. Do "God" and "No God" really have the same probability?

I consider it highly improbable that there is a god.

Atheism makes sense in the case in which one in contesting the existence of a particular idea of god (i.e. a vengeful christian god that created the world in 6 days, the jewish god, etc.'). Otherwise, arguing against the existence of a vaguely described character doesn't make much sense - hence the agnosticism.
Personally, I just prefer not to occupy my thoughts with any god issues at all. Unless it's about making fun of super-religious folks, which has been scientifically proven to be fun. :smirk:

Did you do any extensive studies on agnostics, or are you over-generalizing here?

I think it's illogical to believe we can know anything like that as a surety. However we can act on what we believe is most likely.

I'm not really a staunch atheist myself but I do think that it seems a lot more likely that a concept that seems to have absoloutely no basis other than random speculation doesn't exist. The percentage chance is close enough to zero that it might aswell be that.

you cant assign a probability to god verses no god.

however i think it is better off to apply occams razor and go with the 'no god' option if you must chose.

however I am an agnostic in the technical sense of the word.
But I heard of a better word recently.. Possibilian. and Possibilian is exactly what I am.

I am going to start a thread on it actually

One believes that their own version of this concept exists and one belives that everbodys random imaginary concepts have no credibility, pretty big difference I think.

that is a generalisation of theists. some might simply believe that the theos is a vague consciousness

I really don't even know where to begin when thinking about a question like god. Its like trying to figure out the probability of there being or not being purple polka doted portapusses. I really have no information about the subject

It seems that everyone looks at "GOD" in the same way, that is with a materialistic view. In deep meditation you feel things that are imo undeniably "real". Whether or not you are looking for physical proof from others or looking within ourselves and everything around us is a matter of personal preference i guess. All can be good if done peacefully. But for me, i feel there must be something bigger that encompasses everything and nothing at the same time. I dont believe we will ever truly understand it but i do think we can become more of a part of it.
