Can I do this with the military?

I'm a straight male who in 2 years is trying to join a branch of the military, anyway, the reason I mention that I am straight is because of this: Can I marry a friend of mine, join the military, and if I die have him recieve the life insurance?

Other than that, I have no idea.  I would suggest just not going into the military. every one of my friends that did went into it for the money, and are now crying like babies wanting out because it is so lame, and well....you are being trained by the government to kill....:shrug:

I have a friend that has told me to join the military just not infantry, so I am going against his advice but w/e it's my life.  On paper I can be gay, I don't give a fuck, I just want to know, if I die, will my good friend reap the benefits of my death?  If not, Ok, I'll marry his mother, if yes, I can just marry his ass.

your assumption is correct, you can make the friend the beneficiary of the
policy without marrying him, as was mentioned, marrying your friend would
classify you as gay, being gay you're ineligible to serve and if you were
KIA the policy wouldnt pay off because the US doesnt recognize same sex
marriages

Yeah, you should be able to name whoever the hell you want as a beneficiary.

not if you're openly gay, that's what 'dont ask, dont tell' is
all about, same sex marriages would be open homosexuality, once
you tell them you're gay, you get a discharge, usually under
less than honorable conditions
