Cool, I've been wandering about heaters and stuff, too...

I've been thinking of putting a heater under the table on the floor, so it would suck up the warm air past the 'shrooms. :shrug:

But that one you linked is really nice, dude. :thumbup:

i don't know whether you live in a very dry climate or you haven't grown very large/dense mushrooms because simply fan drying takes longer than 48 hours to get them dry.
that's why dehydrators are the shit. and so is the shroomy 1's huge badass homemade dehydrator. heat speeds up the process immensely.
if you had some sort of heating element then you could tell people the 36-48 hour drying time.

Well, I've only ever done very small amounts, so maybe that was what made it quicker, sorry for the wrong time. (like 1/4's and 1/2's) :shrug:

I'll edit it...

It dried a half for me in 2 days... :shrug: but I used desiccant packs too...

here in north texas it can take up to a week to fan dry some of the decent sized mushrooms. that's why i just had to go get a nesco.
i still like the setup though.
that picture made me laugh.

Geez, I'm on the east coast and it's not exactly dry here all the time, but I've never taken that long before, like 3 1/2 - 4 days max

was a small shot-gun FC,16"x10".could probably fit another 2 'floors' in it if needed.can pull~a dry oz out of it.
sits infront of a small radiator.
i guess a 100w light bulb placed behind the fan would work just as well.

doncha just love inventing stuff:wink:

How about that square fan..

Then you build a box of plywood, or plexi or something, but no front or back, just four sides made of your material then put the fan on back side to be that wall and a door of plywood or plexi on the front with holes drilled over it..then a few small peices of trim wood nailed to the inside of the box to allow trays to be slid in an out, trays could be wood or furnace filters, whatever..then a heater in front of the fan. It would be a dehydrator kind of like this:

Those are nice dehydrators but there is an off brand just like the Excalibur but it is cheaper..

Yes the STX Hydra 10 tray is the one I actually bought..I posted "one like this" because that link has a better showing of how it works and would be built.

Although I really wanted the Excalibur, 15 square feet of drying space instead of 12 with mine, and the fan is bigger, plus the warranty..but I went with the cheaper one.

I just saw that link you posted..thats kinda the same thing, but sideways.
