I find playing instruments dull, pool is ok along with other sports but still not amazing and certaintly no permanent fix, not like I could be absorbed in it for long periods of time.

The best distraction I have found is hanging out in the wilderness or as close as england gets but it isn't really a viable lifestyle these days.

I take it you find things interesting and can absorb yourself in things frequently, what's it for you? I always wished I had interests I didn't care as a kid cuz it was all so fresh but it soon got dull.

Instruments are only dull until you start to get real good at them. I love to drum its a great natural high and release of energy. In general I find cultivating skill to be satisfying. I love to watch hilarious sitcoms that is one thing I can get absorbed into for long periods. The joys of hanging around other people can never be overlooked, I love to get a rise out of people especially if they take things real seriously.
Checkout the show Peep Show its a british sitcom sooo hilarious.

I guess the problem manifests when you open your eyes and grok what goes on in culture. First one becomes angry and thinks it should be fixed. Then one becomes sad when it's realized that it cannot. It's after that sadness goes one for awhile without let up that one ends up bored with the whole shit house mess of it. Fortunately we don't live forever.
