It is still subjective.   Besides, if you took the time to read my post, you would see that "technical difficulties" refers to the every day delays and frustrations one might experience.  These events may be blown out of proportion by a frustrated reaction, or taken in stride as part of living.  Having one's home and family destroyed by a tsunami is quite clearly not an every day occurrence.

MOST people would find such an event difficult to deal with, yet this does not mean that the event itself is "difficult."

same same, look at it from a cosmic perspective. Everything dies, the how and why don't change the immensity of that fact.

What about it? Would you classify that as an objectively difficult event?

Yes. It's like the annoying vending machines from that thread a while back. "Difficulty" is not a property of the situation itself, it is a projection of the mind on the situation. 'Difficulty' still has a meaning, as it refers to our mind's ability to accept the situation rather than resist it.

'Would you classify that as an objectively difficult event?'

Intentionally objectively devastating, imo. Subjective shock and awe.

Yes, you get it, WC.   IMO, when we pretend that events are not neutral, and that our reaction to certain events is inevitable, we lock ourselves into habitual reactions.  Most of what we experience is not as extreme as a tsunami or military attack, yet our reactions are out of proportion and reflexive.

What I am recommending here is cultivating one's ability to respond to the daily non-preferable events in one's life, rather than reacting.  Why waste our energy and magnify unpleasant experiences by engaging in habitual reactions?

If so many Americans are 'wasting their energy' and are currently obese; if they used your disciplined method to conserve their energy, ipso facto, they would become even more obese.

This is basic thermodynamics.

Mentally exhausted and physically sedentary is a terrible combination.  Getting pissed off does not burn extra calories. (Unless you express it by tearing apart the grocery store.)

Energy in a metaphysical or mental framework is nonsense. Energy has a clear and precise meaning.

Quote:

Energy
1. The capacity for work or vigorous activity; vigor; power. See Synonyms at strength.

2. Exertion of vigor or power: a project requiring a great deal of time and energy.

3. Vitality and intensity of expression: a speech delivered with energy and emotion.

When one engages in habitual reactions of out-of-proportion emotional intensity, one reduces one's vitality (energy) and capacity for work (energy), thereby WASTING ENERGY.  :smirk:
