Pics of BRF cakes fruiting in my PMP -updated; 1st flush weighted
    #12084270 -

My 2nd run in a PMP.  Multi-spore cubes to BRF.

One fat monster and many smaller fruit bodies seems to be a trend among these cakes, funny..

This is the first flush.  I guess "2nd run" is unclear -- it's the 2nd time I'm using the PMP.

I'll make sure to report back on the (dry) weight in a few days though.

I have been working on my new drying chamber, and it's almost complete;

It's a kitchen cabinet fitted with an 100m3/h exhaust fan in the top.  The fan moves a shit load of air, compared to the size of the cabinet itself, out of the chamber.

There are small holes around the lower part of the cabinet, allowing for a constant stream of air moving up and passing the drying mushrooms.

The fan is powerful enough to create low air pressure inside the cabinet, which I hope will aid the drying further.

I'll be adding a few more "shelves" (mesh wire) and additional holes for better air flow tomorrow, as well as some LED lights for my own convenience -- hopefully just in time for 1st flush harvest.

I'll make an more informative post about the drying chamber itself when it is complete.

:thumbup: really like that homemade drying chamber. Im usually that ambitious when it comes to diy, but I just bought a dehydrator since I dont have time to be ambitious :crazy:

Nice flush! :thumbup:

Any pics of the fruits at a more mature stage? What kind of lighting did you use and what cycle?

Maybe you could even build another serperate compartment with damp-rid or attach a shelf or something...? that would add a great final touch to the design, giving you an easy place to throw the mushrooms when they just wont get 100% cracker dry towards the end. Your design looks like it would get the first portion of moisture out quite efficiently, but once it gets to that last bit in the middle i think sometimes flowing air alone won't suffice

This is a good point!  I forgot to mention anything about that.  My plan is to place a damp-rid box on the bottom of the cabinet, so I have intentionally made room for that.  I might also mount a small internal fan for air circulation, so that I can switch off the exhaust and seal up most of the holes but still keep some circulation in the chamber.

The really nice thing is that I usually don't have to use damp-rid at all during the cold part of winter.  The RH in my grow room is currently at 22%, and the mushrooms generally become cracker dry without damp-rid at this low (~30% and below) humidity.

The lighting used is a simple 40W low energy reflector bulb, day light / white.

More mature fruits, from an earlier grow in the same PMP:

Assuming you mean the PMP -- there are a few holes in the lid, and that is all you need.

Seconded! Nice job on the drying chamber, my man! :awethumb:

Makes my poxy fan running in a cardboard box look exactly as shitty and half assed as it is! :lol:

Update, ~24 hours later;

I also did some more work on the drying chamber today, will try to make a post about it tomorrow.  Got some mushroom in there right now, will be fun to see how efficient this turns out to be.

And thanks for all the shrooms, guys! :laugh:

Frist flush just finished drying;

47 grams cracker dry (bag was tared ofc)

That's 1.65 ounces if my math is correct.

Hoping 2nd will be better -- it usually is..

Very nice! Also, how much did that scale cost you, it looks very nice.

Scale was very cheap (~ $15 if I recall correctly).  The amazing thing about it is that it's dead accurate, and I have yet to calibrate it.  I always check it with my calibration weights before use, and after about a year now, it's still dead on.  Love it.

It goes to the hundredth place and it was only 15 dollars? That is one hell of a deal.

What strain are your shrooms?
