Anyone every hear of permanently IMPROVED VISION weeks after a shroom trip?

Hi I am very curious about a recent phenomenon in my life and was hoping to get some answers from the community here.  First the background info: I tripped for the first time about three weeks ago (eighth ounce minus one mushroom) and had an incredible life changing experience.  That one last mushroom lingered around for a few weeks and so I decided to eat it last Tuesday (so just under a week ago).  Surprisingly, this guy packed a punch and I full on tripped for a few hours.  This leads me to believe that I am very sensitive to psilocybin.  Cutting to the chase: immediately after the shroom trip on Tuesday my vision was very clear and remained so the rest of the day.  The next day it was still sharper, and continued to be thru the weekend up till today.  I noticed that my boundary detection was improved, as well as color vibrancy, detail, motion tracking etc.  I have concluded that my vision must be right around 20/10 now as opposed to 20/20 as it has been for my whole life.  And I have many questions.  How is this humanly possible?  Has anyone else experienced long-term improved vision after a low-dose trip?  Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

you cant really say 1/8 minus a mushroom. for some of us, the 1/8th is only one mushroom. just so you know. ive never experienced something like that.

My vision has been sharpened considerably by psychedelics and other drugs. Yet I still have to wear contact lenses. Your vision is not optically resolving better, it's simply your brain processing the data better because the shrooms set the pattern recognition nerve maps into overdrive.

Post-HPPD maybe?  Check out HPPD on wikipedia.

Noticing interferences?  for me the most prevalent in the beginning was the "static" look to everything.  Seeing patterns at all?

Do lights look brighter?  Like the light gives off a fuzzy aura even?

When you enter a room with brighter walls, what do you see first - the walls or the stuff covering them?  Was it always that way?

The only way to know if you went from 20/20 to 20/10 is to go to an eye doctor.  It'd be cool, but I doubt this.  Your probably just experiencing a little interference, and liking it - thus concluding that your vision is "better" -  You will notice a big difference in peripheral vision with HPPD - and I consider that an improvement.  Plus things just tend to look cooler.

I tripped last night and woke up, walked into my bathroom and looked in the mirror and the (because HPPD increases with use) first thing I thought was "am i still tripping?"

lol.

The truth is the only person who knows what your eyes are doing is you, the rest is an educated guess - observation and speculation.

If you ask me eye-testing is out of date.  Leaves very little room for a unique eye to show it's differences.  Either your eyes are really good, pretty good, not so good, or bad - colorblind or completely blind.  At least, that's what I've been lead to believe.. I'm aware of some degenerative conditions that are a little more rare, usually caused by disease - but that's outside the point.  It would be nice if we knew exactly how everyone saw things, but we don't.

So it's almost a pun; like a blind guy asking someone how he looks.. when you wonder what your wondering.

Do magic mushrooms make your vision better?

Not exactly.

Can they change the way you perceive things?

Yes, I can attest to that, it's a documented condition.


If you really wanna know, see an eye doctor.  I've noticed you don't get much constructive criticism on vision topics around here.  The ones who don't see the pretty "interferences" are either jealous or in denial, I think.


either way, good luck.  I'm glad your trip meant something to you.  So many idiots running around tripping just to trip.. it's important you advise yourself from the beginning, when experimenting with psychedelics it's really important to be educated and smart about your perspective, behavior and environmental choices.

I knew a guy who just wasn't very bright, was in complete denial and had a shitty life and ate mushrooms to "trip".

He said his entire life was a joke.

That sounds interesting, though I am pretty convinced that I can see objects clearly at a much farther distance than before.  I get what you say about the pattern mapping, because whenever I walk over a tiled walkway, my eyes catch every little detail all at once and that never happened before the last trip.  Same thing when I look at brick buildings.  Does this sharpened vision last forever?  Or will I need subsequent low dose trips to keep it up?

I can see this working if you had a lazy eye or something similar. The shrooms probably reinforce the 'right' pathways for your eyes to line up.

It works. Terrence McKenna hypothesizes that early humans ate psychedelic mushrooms for the sensory enhancing qualities it provided on lower doses. This aided in hunting. High doses aided in communal bonding. :bananabang:

In his book Food of the Gods, he actually quoted (I think, he at least talked about) this one study done where an acute dose of psilocybin actually increased visual acuity compared to the group who took a placebo. Quite interesting

Terrence Mckenna thinks that ancients used mushrooms to improve their vision for hunting yes.

I've felt that my depth perception has been much better.

sense i have started using  psychedelics i have become aware of my peripheral vision and it seems from like looking though a tunnel to see around you to, awareness of whats around you, and what you see/choose to see, so yeah i do think from my subjective experience that it has helped my vision,i wouldn't say it made the sharper, but more aware of whats in front/around you/connectedness

i thought it was a pretty well established fact that several low dose seratogenics improved eyesight somewhat (temporarily)

i dont think they make your eyes better, I think they make your brain better

Well obviously it'll just be the perception of the sight and not the eyes itself. I have felt this before too, on shrooms and DXM. After about 3 days after a dose on DXM I start to come down (idk its my body, lasts forever) anyway, when I start coming down after that my vision becomes EXTREMELY sharp, I tested it a few times on one of those eye things. I got one row down from my normal vision. I have also felt this after shrooms but never did any tests

As everyone will probably tell you, different bodies/minds react to chemical compounds differently.  I would say test yourself on a low dose and see how long your vision stays sharpened/improved (if you are lucky enough to react this way).  Then plan accordingly.  Imo its not worth it to become dependent on tripping in order to keep your vision better.  Sure its cool as fuck, like the trip itself, but it might as well turn into a habit.  Just one man's opinion.

For me, its officially been one week since the last trip and my vision is still improved.  I'm waiting for the morning where I wake up, and suddenly I'm back to normal vision.  Hopefully this doesn't come for a while.

The morning after tripping me and a friend went bowling.  We could see the pins, the lane, the ball, and everything else like never before.  I wouldn't say that we could see better, but that we could see and understand these things all at once.  Needless to say we seemed to understand physics better and we where both able to get our high scores.

HPPD? 2c-e and 2c-i gave me some pretty noticeable effects that I am still experiencing to a slight degree. I have a lot more visual static now and sometimes I can see aura's around people sometimes. It's weird

Tryptamines make me feel like I can see more clearly, idk how much of that is truth or trip though
