Super Bowl XLIV (Poll)

So we don't have a poll up yet.  I have a hunch that the saints are gonna win the super bowl this year.  I wouldn't consider myself a saints fan, i just have this feeling that they are gonna upset Payton and the colts.  It's also gonna be a big advantage if Dwight isn't playing.

So who is gonna win Super Bowl XLIV?

I have a hunch that Manning will be Manning and will tear up the Saints. Only question is can the Colts defense hold the Saints under 30

Saints! I just hope it's a close game, and not some boring Super Bowl blowout.
We've got 7 months until the first pre-season game, and a good Super Bowl would
help ease that pain.

Whoever wins, it's a Saints Super Bowl. Peyton may play for the Colts but he was bred a Saint.

The only thing that could've made this season better was if the SB was held at the Superdome. That would've been EPIC.

i agree.  I mean, of course Peyton Manning is a god who defeats anything he looks at :whatever:

The media hypes that dude up so much it's ridiculous, everyone really should go ahead and remove his balls from their mouth.

The simple facts are the Colts have had a mediocre defense all season, and they had an incredibly easy schedule, yet still struggled in many games.

The only time the Saints struggled was when half of their defense was injured. Dallas and Tampa Bay (wks. 15 and 16) most of the starting D was not playing.  People seem to forget that the Saints had the 5th or 6th ranked defense when all of their players were healthy (as they are now).

Dwight Freeny or no, the Saints are going to tear the Colts up.  This game reminds me a lot of the Saints games against the Giants and the Pats.

Me too.  I'm surprised LS thinks the Colts are going to win considering the Saints already beat the best team in the AFC.

There is a whole boatload of hyperbolic bluster flying around here.  (Youngsters are sooo amusing)

Each team was the best in their respective leagues, the Colts more so than the Saints, but the Saints were in the slightly stronger league.  Brees is an excellent QB but Manning is an alltime great at the top of his game.  Saints D is not good except for turnovers.  Relying on turnovers is like relying on a crack dealer.  Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't.  When they do, it's great.  When they don't, you twitch.  All night.  There are certain elemnents of the Colts D that are dubious but I think they are generally solid.  They never get the respect they deserve and people forget that it was the Colt's D that won their first Supe.  Wild card is Reggie Bush but I don't think he has escaped the Colt's notice.

I'm figuring big points and the Colts to cover.

You old timers think you know everything, but in reality you are just biased and don't have the full picture.  Usually stuck in the past.  The NFL has changed old man:  :smirk:

Seriously, though.  You said before that you didn't see most of the Saints games.  That means you probably missed most of the ones in the first half of the season where the defense was on the top of it's game like it has been this post season.  That "25th ranked" crap or whatever does not apply.  At the end of the season, yes, all the D did really was cause and capitalize on turnovers, created by the other teams mistakes, but more often then not, created by the Saints D.  When the Saints D is healthy, they are in the top 10 in the NFL (they were number 7 though out week 9 or 10 I believe).  They are MILES ahead of Indy's.

And the Saints have SO many more *wildcards* than Reggie Bush.

I have already admitted that Manning *might* be better than Brees, I don't know.  Nobody will until they retire.  After Brees brings New Orleans it's first Super Bowl, he will be right there with Manning.  IMO, anyway.  There are bad QB's, good QB's, and Great QB's.  Manning and Brees are both in the same league, and to call one better than the other is pure opinion and bias.  Nothing else.

I don't give all that much weight to anything that happens before week 12.  And for all the talk about the Saints D causing turnovers that's pretty much when they started to get mediocre.  Except for the game against the turnover machine.

Saint's D is gonna get sliced and diced.  The master is in da house.

Now you sound like Gary Pope, wow.  Just because you are old doesn't mean you know shit about football.  It doesn't take 40 years of watching a game to figure it out.  In fact, as most people get older, they tend to latch on to old, "out of vogue" football presuppositions.

Brees and Co. and going to tear the Colts up.  The Colts have not played a team any where near as good as the Saints since they played the Steelers (and lost) about a year ago.
