Did you really say people would have to be an idiot to think Urlacher is a better LB?

I bet if you asked NFL coordinators and players, Urlacher would be rated a better player by the vast majority. I've literally never heard anyone with an ounce of common sense claim Merriman is a better player. He's a good LB, no doubt, but Urlacher is one of the best LB's in HISTORY.

You dont understand what I'm saying when I say "history"

I dont mean he was a better Linebacker at some point in the past. He's not 60. I'm saying he's a better LB NOW, *AND*, he is one of the best LB's in HISTORY. I mean, in the HISTORY of the game.

You probably dont know who Dick Butkus is, but he's a famous Chicago Bear, regarded by nearly everyone to be the best linebacker in history. He has said numerous times all over Chicago that he thinks Brian is BY FAR a better linebacker than him. Faster, Tougher, and Scarier.

Brian Urlacher is, at this very moment, a lock for the hall of fame. Merriman? Not so much.

The bears just pulled a minnesota vikings on the minnesota vikings and won a game they were outplayed in....
....they will have to play alot better against teams alot better than the vikings to make it to the bowl.

Bears will repeat the same thing they did last year if they can even win the North

more valuable? no. no way.. a second year player, who went to the pro bowl as a rookie?.. and led the league in sacks.. no.. if he stays healthy he will make brian urlacher look like a good LB, but nothing special.

Word.

Banez you needa pull your head out your ass. Merriman is a great linebacker, sure. He's probably a better athlete too, that pick he made against the 'Hawks in preseason was fucking amazing. But pound for pound, effective defense, Urlacher is getting picked. He will be where he is supposed to be a lot more then Merriman will be.

I have to go with Banez on this, Urlacher is a fucking nerd, LBs are for sacks, secondary is for coverage, and the Bears are dreaming if they think they're going to the SB, sorry beating up on few loser doesn't autmotically make an offense, they have to prove it more than that, and I know our D is smelling blood, for the target in Sexy Rex as you weirdos call him,

just wait for the new dirty birds to come shit on your squad, Squawwwwwak

finally someone agrees with me.. and i will admit.. in his prime i would have taken urlacher.. but if i had a draft pick, and i was taking a LB.. i would take Merriman over Urlacher. right NOW.

Banez is right. If I was a GM, and I had a straight up choice between Urlacher and Merriman, I would take Merriman. I bet most NFL GMs would also. You'll see why in a few years, if you don't already.

Two comments for this thread...

1: SEE YOU IN MIAMI, SUCKAS

2. I think yesterday showed you the difference between Urlacher and Merriman. Urlacher led his team to a huge victory by playing his game. Seattle tried to fuck with them w/ the 3 and 4 receiver sets and the Bears didnt bite. You know what most teams do at that point? Bring out the LB's and bring in safeties. The bears KNOW their LB's are so good that they kept them in coverage against those WR's, and the Bears made Seattle PAY.

Merriman on the other hand LOST THE GAME for his team. He could have stopped the Ravens at the 5, but instead, he fucked up the tackle, missed, and allowed an easy touchdown.

Thats the difference between the best linebacker in the league and an overhyped young player.

I'll give you young, but not overhyped. I'm sure somewhere in his career, Urlacher has fucked up AT LEAST once big time.

Bears wont even make it to the super bowl, let alone win it. philly will beat them before they make it. congrats, you play in a shitty nfc division that has no other good teams so you have an easy ride to the playoffs. Wait till you play some real defenses that will put 8 in the box and still shit all over grossman.

Did you even watch the Seattle game?

Is Seattle now a shit-team?

They have one of the best defenses in the league, look what happened. They arent in our division, you fucking moron.

it is.. but the bears are still pretty fucking badass.. not jumping on the bears bandwagon. but yes seattle is over-rated, which i think everyone has been saying (except the 2-3 seahawk fans). hell minnesota put up more of a fight than the hawks did.

chi-town is def one of the top 5 teams in the NFC, not sure if i would put them #1

and i never said that I didnt think that the bears are a badass team. hell i could have meant that the bears are the second best team in the NFC behind philly. but they wont win a super bowl with grossman this year. maybe when he has more experience they can go somewhere.
