NFL Talk.

im going to throw out some things here and anyone can argue with me.
1) Kansas City will return to the playoffs and maybe a super bowl. They lose OT Roaf but that wont impact the running game much, not with the addition of Turley. They have improved a weak defense giving them now one of the better 2ndarys in the game.. with patrick surtain and ty law. Offensive rating of like 92
2) Miami will beat out New England in their division and move into a wild card. They now have a QB (regardless of whether u like culpepper or not).. they have the weapons at RB and WR.. and they have always had a solid defense. they will finish 10-6 and get themselves a spot in the playoffs
3) Jets will me laughed off the map.. they will finish horribly.. with Curtis Martin unlikely to run the ball.. they will struggle even more. this much should be a given
4) Carolina will run the table in the NFC.. they will finish better than pittsburgh.
5) Arizona will improve. duh. they will finish 9-7 and maybe catch a wild card in the NFC. they have one of the best offenses in the game now. if not this season, the following season will hold playoff hopes as long as they can improve on the defensive side of the ball.

turley's at like, 265 and likely would play as a blocking TE

Infrared loses at life..
How do you figure the bears can beat the Seahawks...Defense will probly be close..but the Bears offense cannot keep up with or beat the Hawks...
Week 4 - Hawks vs Bears
EDIT: O yeh OHS, I think you had a typo in #4 ... Carolina to Seahawks

yes i have lost at life. nice observation
seahawks suck. you act like theyre infallible. their defense is weak.. and if the bears can have one full season with rex on the field , the offense will be plenty good enough to win. besides we got 3 dominating rb's.. sorry you guys are going down on week 4, there will be way too much pressure on hasselbeck. he'll throw a bunch of pics, then go cry about it... and you wont be going to the superbowl again.. that ill bet on

Okay, I was looking for a reason to disregard everything you said about the NFL. This pretty much locks it up...
Green Bay...Much Improved....
What?
They're by far the worst team in a really weak division...

ive been following their training camp and they do look very improved.. their drafted WR Jennings out of Western Michigan looks like a guy who can come in right away and step up.. Driver is healthly.. Ahman Green.. Farve will still be solid..
the defense added 2 much needed run stoppers in Hawk and Hodge.. i think they will be much improved

Farve will STILL be solid?
Did you see him play last year? I live in wisconsin. He had by FAR the worst year of his career last year. He led the *NFL* in several categories that you really dont want to lead the NFL in. He still has no O-Line, one decent reciever, and a hodge-podge backfield.
Ahman Green had a few good years, but in the NFL it seems like RB's are good one year, then done the next. I think he's over the hill, and there is seriously nothing behind him. Samkon Gado?

last year was the first year that ive seen brett struggle.. and now he has 3 solid.. Donald Driver, Greg Jennings (he will prove to be a great reciever in the league), and Robert Fergusen.. and a fairly good TE in Bubba Franks.
they will win 7-8 games and i would consider that much improved

They can beat...
The Saints. The Bills The 49'ers Probably the Lions once, maybe twice. Hard to say how the new QB is gonna go over there. Viqueens once.
But they will NOT beat Chicago Eagles Rams Dolphins Cards Vikings twice Pats Seahawks Vikings
Yeah, so never mind. I give them 5-6.

The packers will not beat the dolphins. Do you have any idea how good the Dolphins are going to be this year?
The Cardinals wont be any slouch either. They dont have a defense to speak of but that offense is going to light things up. They're going for the "Put up 40 and pray" style of game, and htey have the personel to do it.
I was listening to the radio the other day, and they were doing call ins to see how many games the packers fans though they would win. The general consensus is 6-10. People were being ridiculed for thinking the packers would go 8-8, and I agree...

8-8 is realistic i think
as for miami, i still dont think they will be much better than .500
arizona, has great potential but they will still lose games, esp this season.. they need 1-2 years to develop.

Almost everyone who knows the NFL disagrees with you on Miami. Alot of people have Miami as a possible Super-Bowl contender...
They had a *stud* Running Back, a pro-bowl Quarterback, a decent receiving core, and a monster defense.
Oh, and one of the best new coaches in football...

Only 16 games in an NFL regular season? Why so little? I understand it's a rough sport, but if hockey players can pull off 82 games, footballers should too

And the D is getting weaker every year, the secondary's been ravaged by free-agency the last few years, and there's never been enyone on the interior line.

dallas looked fucking sweet (it wasnt live, but the first replay).. the defense completely dominated with 6 sacks.. and allowed 3 pts.. the offense connected even without T.O and Bledsoe
cincy is looking pretty good to with a 9-0 lead on the skins.

RG3 played well. in fact, he was coached well. shanahan knew some wet-behind-the-ears coach was going to allow some power hungry Dco to try and make a name for himself by calling extremely stupid plays. 2nd and 19 in their own 30 and you put 8 in the box with 2 man? we fired gregg williams for a reason.
outside of for whatever reason, drew Brees didnt look comfortable in the pocket, the saints were severely out-coached. i didnt think it was going to make that much of an impact, but having 3 offensive false starts and a 12 man on the field penalty on 4th down? fucking bush-league.
the reffing was for the most part decent. that PI call in the end zone was absolute bullshit, and there was a bunch of holding on the skins that didnt get called (by WRs no less), but just stupid packages all around.
we ran 4 Ace packages, 2 of which were runs, on those runs we got 9 yards each. between thomas and graham, you can overload a side with a run, or PA a pass. it is just stupid that we didnt utilize that package more, or utilize thomas more. the saints have a famous play called backs cross that we never used once. payton would use that shit about every 8 plays.
just predictable shit and brees kept allowing a mid draw play to go on even though the skins had 9 in the box and shit. stupid shit that i have never seen the saints do that the only explanation for is poor coaching.

Bumped my NFL thread from 6 years ago
I thought RG3 played very well for his first game. On the flip, I thought the Saints played like shit and the scoreboard only looked close because Redskins went into "bend dont break," mode when they had a 30-17 lead. Talk about consistent, Redskins put up a TD + FG in every single quarter.
Michael Vick looked like shit. If Cleveland had a decent QB at all instead of Weeden with his 5.1 QB Rating then the Browns could have easily won that shit. As expected, Trent Richardson wasnt worth a shit. Browns never have luck picking RB's. Or picking players in general lol
The Jets surprised me, sure they played the Bills but they were extremely effective. Offense took care of business and the defense forced 4 turnovers.
Texans looked good today as did The Bears. I am sticking with my pick of the Bears making the playoffs this season.
49er's are looking excellent early in the 3rd quarter against Packers. 23- 7 currently and Alex Smith has been as close to perfect as I have seen from him. Having Randy Moss there this season will be a huge boost in helping take pressure off of Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree

There is no room for politician crap in this forum
There is plenty of room for bragging about my mighty mighty Texans
First of all i want to thank Jerry Jones for firing Wade Philips 2 years back.
Second of all i want to thank Gary Kubiak and owner Bob Mcnair for hiring him as our defensive co-ordinator 6 hrs after he was fired
Third of all who is picking the Jets to beat the Texans on the next MNF game?

The Lions are quietly trending up. 4-4 now after a 1-3 start, and after a game at Minnesota next week they'll be home for 3 straight.
And sometimes I get the feeling that Matt Stafford just gets absolutely no love for a guy so young to be the what -- 3rd or 4th ever qb in history to throw for 5,000? And today he just became the 2nd fastest quarterback EVER to 10,000 yards passing. The guy is special and is going to be good for a long, long time.

The Lions are playing in a pretty tough division.
The Packers and Bears (!) are in the Elite of the NFL.
The Vikings record says they are really fucking good.
The Lions are an afterthought.
It isn't their fault. Stafford is a good QB. But the NFC North is a good division from top -> bottom.
Beat some of the teams at the top and they'll get some respect.
They have games with all three division rivals coming up real soon.

Yeah I can get with that. But if they beat Minnesota next week, they'll have passed the Vikes in the standings and be just a game behind the Packers. And their loss to Chicago (in Chicago) was a narrow one (lost by 6). They're quietly hanging around. And after that Minnesota game they finish with 5 of their last 7 at home.
And anyways, how about that NFC North? Is it the toughest division in football? Every single team in the division is .500 or better.
CHICAGO 7-1 GREEN BAY 6-3 MINNESOTA 5-4 DETROIT 4-4
IIRC I heard today that the NFC North has a combined 22 wins, with the next closest division having 18 (NFC West I believe).

It's a great division.
The Bears have the toughest schedule coming up. I could see them losing five or six games in their last eight.
The Packers are on cruise control and might not lose another game.
I don't think the Vikings are all that, but then the Bears haven't played them yet so I haven't really seen them.
Maybe being a huge Bears fan my whole life has made me gun-shy, but I don't see how anyone beats the Packers for the division crown. Rodgers and Clay Matthews terrify me.

I dont see it happening
I think Texans choked against GB because it was their first game without Cushing and that defense got absolutely carved up. I think they will get pressure on Cutler and force more turnovers than they give up and ultimately win by at least 7.

Probably but you never know; if they beat Philly next week on the road they got like a billion home games left for the rest of the season, so who knows. They're certainly on life support though.
NFC Playoff Picture
Division leaders: Falcons (8-0), Bears (7-1), 49ers (6-2), Giants (6-3).
Wildcard leaders: Packers (6-3), Seahawks (5-4).
In the hunt: Vikings (5-4), Lions (4-4), Bucs (4-4).
Life support: Cards (4-5), Eagles (3-4), Cowboys (3-5), Rams (3-5).
Dead: Redskins (3-6), Saints (2-5), Panthers (2-6).
And the reason I have the Seahawks over the Vikings for that final playoff spot is because they own the tiebreaker between the two teams.

Seriously? No way man, Bears are too damn good to lose that many in their final 8. They are a legit superbowl contender, and I still think they win the division. That defense is fucking beastly! And the offense ain't bad either.

Dude, the Bears could easily lose to the...
1) Texans.
2) 49'ers.
3) Packers
4) Giants
5) Seahawks
6) And maybe the Vikings, twice.
It could be ugly.

The Vikings twice? Naaahhh. The Vikes are a fraud. Nice early season story but Ponder still blows dick, and they're plummeting back to earth with the speed of an asteroid. They won't even make the playoffs despite their 5-2 start.

Yeah, I dont see them playing with any consistency at all. The defense has been great every game and defense wins championships, no doubt, but you still got to put points on the board and I dont see them keeping pace with the amazing start they are off to.
It's all on Cutler basically. He mans up and plays like a starting NFL QB each week, Bears are mighty dangerous (and I agree, no way Vikings beat them twice) but if Cutler keeps having 3-4 turnover games then they are going to end up dropping a couple games that costs them one of the top 2 seeds.

Sanchez missing the hand off and then running into his own lineman's ass and then fumbling the ball and then it being picked up and ran back for a touchdown is one of the greatest plays in the history of the NFL.

The Eagles, Dallas, and the Jets. All fun to laugh at but the Eagles are probably my favorite circus. It's like people can't realize how garbage Vick is no matter how shitty he plays week after week. And two years ago they were calling themselves a dream team. Money can get you laid but it can't buy love. God, I just hope the Lakers keep sucking.

That is amazing, PT. Damn Sanchize makes me realize how hard it is to be a good QB in this league.
