Astrology and the Planets
    #1178079 -

I had a good discussion with my father today about his opinions on astrology. He said that he believes that the only two things in astrology that relate to us are the sun and the moon (and perhaps the stars). This makes sense, both have gravitational bonds to earth, but as far as I can recall, the other planets orbit the sun on their own accord, and have no gravitational relation to teach other.

gravity from anything in the solar system has some effect on everything else in the solar system.

Well, of course. Any two systems have gravitational relation to each other, but a signifigant enough one, that we can use them to predict accurately, I think not, but I, as always, may be wrong. I have read my natal calendar, and it told me about myself, and was pretty much true, but it didn't teach me much I didn't already know, and seemed somewhat general.

The planets do share a bond, and a magnetic one at that. Although the magnetic bond may be quite small it is not insignificant. There are certainly forces at work beyond our current comprehension, and it would be short-sighted to descredit them so early in the game.

What's for sure is that we can't be sure until we're sure.

I look at astrology as more of a classification system, kind of like we classify different parts of the seasons, you can also classify different personalities. Prediction is a tricky thing, because anything can happen at any time... But I do think that it is possible to predict the "flow", but not the actions of the things being carried by it. Make any sense?

Let me rephrase the beginning. The planets do not tell us anything we didn't already know, because their movement is not relative to our own, whereas the moon is relative to the earth, and the earth is relative to the sun. The planets, like stars, are really only reference points, and can be used to better define our relationship to the sun, but not the moon.
