Cause it was hard as fuck. You try surviving boot camp and doing something harder than most people ever will come close to acomplishing. They taught me responsibility if anything. I was a huge fuck up before I went into the marines. I hated it and wanted to get out when I was done, but I got through boot camp and training. I went into the reserves and got out asap but I can say I did it.

I didn't belong there from day 1 but I finished. This is what I think of it but I still did something harder than most people ever will. Thats what I'm proud of.

Studying computer science under the guy who wrote the paramount programming language for the past ~30 years (c, c#, c++).

Being a psychonaut despite the conservative/fundamentalist way I was raised and despite being surrounded by bible thumpers and rednecks

Deciding I needed something in my life that was an extracurricular outlet for creativity and inspiritation so a year and 2 days ago I started teaching myself the electric guitar and now I am just now at the skill level to write my own stuff. Wrote my first song ever 2 days ago due to female induced inspiration. I was pretty proud.

I went the civilian route.  The FBO I learned at has a special for new students.  $99 introductory flight gets you an hour or so in the air with an instructor doing basic maneuvers.  I'm sure most FBOs have similar offers if you're interested.

Getting your private takes quite a bit of time and money, but I think it is well worth it.  That was my career path until those terrorist motherfuckers had to go and screw up the entire airline industry.  Now I'm just a lowly engineer...

Ya no shit, he doesnt even add anything to the discussion, just posts to talk down a respectable accomplishment of being a marine.  The most difficult thing he ever accomplished was probably watching tv on acid.

-Well anyway my accomplishments:
Losing 40 lbs of fat

-Going from benching 135 lbs a few times to now having a max of 300

- Becoming a good artist, i developed skills that improved my talents, won two awards in a county fair with hundred or so entries.

Well, I just remember reading a post by Kada about how much he hated it and how he was trying to regain his former personality after the military programmed him to kill people.

No need for all the attacks, I was just wondering. I'm sorry if I offended you.

No offense taken. It was just something I went through that even tho I hated it I still was able to mentally and physically take whatever those bastards dished out to me. You come out of it feeling accomplished despite it all. I was ready to get out of there on graduation day. If serving in the military was actually honorable I would have stayed and excelled. I don't know how I could have bought into all that shit. Oh yeah I was a kid still lol.
