small decrease in humidity required
    #1159560 -

i have a 3-tub setup:

the bottom tub is opaque - it's an incubator set at 85F
sitting on top of this is terrarium tub 1 - for fruiting after pinset. this contains only the casings, no other perlite or nothing. this reads 75F and 99% rH
on the top sits terrarium tub 2 - for pinset. casings sitting on perlite for max humidity. monitors say 72F and 99%rH

my problem is this - i know that i want the 2 terrarium tubs to have slightly different humidities, with the (middle) fruiting tub at around 90% or so to improve fruitbody generation. even by removing the perlite that i had in there, it still reads 99%.

to lower the humidity by a few %, i thought i could (1) raise the temp a few degrees (hence sitting on the incubator), and (2) fan more. However, someone told me in a recent post to cut back from my 5-6 fans a day to only twice; my airpump is too puny to support airflow into the terrariums as well as iits other job, into the airstone in my incubator (to keep the water agitated).

any suggestions, bearing my setup in mind, on getting the best results? better (2-output) pump?

Not knowing why someone tole you to not fan so much I cannot say if that is right or wrong.....

What I would say is your best bet sounds like to fan more to release the excess humidity though upping your temps at the right time can also help finish your fruiting cycle a bit faster so upping the temp at the right time would be bennificial. You might want to cut back on your misting too.

Support bacteria - they're the only culture some people have.

thanks for the reply, i've been biting my nails.

so do you suggest (for the fruitchamber) - no mistings at all, but fan like fuck ten times a day? it's not that it's not working, it is - every few days something moves from chamber to chamber, and the dry pile grows. it's just that i want to get it as good as i can. the seeking of perfection is a personality flaw in many.

anyone? i can post a pic if it would help, but i think it's all described above pretty good...

:tongue:PS. UK source of polyfil/tyvek anyone? I'm moving to grains.
