Why I Am A Communist

Every night I pray to God that communism will take over. I hate capitalism so much. I dont care about political and economic freedom, I just want economic stability and security. I just want the same stores and shops to be on the street my whole life and the amount of times stores change in America is awful. I just want to have job secirity and work a job and not have to change jobs and move around constantly. I dont want to have economic mobility. I just want to work whatever job I am intelligent enough to do and I want to stay at that position my whole life. I don't feel competitive with people who are smarter than me, I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I don't want to develop my full potential, I just want to be myself. I am sick and tired of the never ending quest for success and the isolation it brings. I just want to know what to expect and have a full stomach.

America is the great country it today is because we have a capitalistic system in place, a free market.  This is what drives innovation, competition and all the great inventions you see out there.  By eliminating social classes and paying everyone equally you are also eliminating the will for people to work hard. Think about it, if people got payed the same for working at a restaurant as they did for being the president of a large company or the or some other extremely stressful job, what do you think people would choose?  Whether you like it or not, money is what drives most people to work hard. If everyone felt the way you do, nobody would want to better themselves. There wouldn't be all those colleges and schools out there cause no one would see the point to it.  This system is what our ancestors intended for this FREE country and that's the way it's going to stay if anyone's got a head on their shoulders. What do you think, the government has more of a right to all the businesses out there than the people?  That's just too much power and control for the gov. to have.  I'm sorry to break this to you dude but if you continue to feel this way about yourself,  you will never make it past the grill at McDonalds. Go to china if you want communism

Capitalism provides not only freedom, but economic stability and security.  When is the last time you waited in a bread line?  There is free food for anyone at every major city in the nation.  The amount of economic stability available in capitalist nations is unparalleled in the history of humanity.

Fortunately for us you are only praying to god and not taking up arms, so you are basically doing nothing.

Do you even know the definition for Communism or Capitalism dude?  It failed in Russia and it it would definitely fail here.  No system in every single country in all of history has worked better or even come close to this one.  Why would you want to change that?  keep voting for Obama if you want your Communism

I'm not trying to bash you or anything but you've got to consider the bad history people have had with the the system you want so bad.  The idea itself on paper isn't bad at all until you throw human greed into the equation. Anyone here would be a communist if they thought it could work, but the truth is,  human nature won't let it.  people just aren't ready to actually work together peacefully.  People today aren't motivated by morals or virtues, they are motivated by $ and physical reward and until that changes, communism won't work.  You're not a bad person for wanting communism to work, everyone should, but when there's that much power just sitting there for the taking, it's inevitable the someone that's power hungry will barge in and take over, e.g. Stalin, and throw it all out the window and become a tyrant.  It's a kind of Utopian society that I think Jesus would have wanted, but until greed and selfishness is defeated, it won't and can't work

I've debated several Marxists before, some surprisingly intelligent, some dumb as nails.  For the sake of respecting the forum rules, I won't say which category I put the OP in.  But I will say that the intelligent ones usually have a much more sophisticated view than just "Fuck capitalism."  Marx himself believed that capitalism was a necessary step in society's dialectical evolution toward communism.  One wonders what Marx might've thought about Lenin's attempt to get Russia to skip capitalism and go directly from a feudal society to a socialist one.  Marx's most fundamental error, I think, was his formulation of the labor theory of value, which in order to hold true would have to mean that labor is qualitatively the same(but to be fair, there are several mainstream theories in neoclassical economics with equally absurd domain assumptions).  And without his labor theory of value, his whole basis for the inevitability of communism collapses.  Additionally, I think he focused too much of his critique on the capitalists, and too little on the monetary system.

As for capitalism versus socialism, I hold no particular allegiance to either one.  I do think that society should have a market economy with a healthy private sector.  However, I also think that the vast inequalities of wealth we see today cannot possibly be adequate reflections of inequalities of talent or labor, so there is a large degree of exploitation going on.  I think capitalism is rife with problems, but I don't think those problems are necessarily inherent to capitalism.  I believe that it can and should be reformed from within, to make it work better for everyone.
