2012 - What if? Crazy idea

So I'm sure we've all heard this crap about the world ending in 2012, it being some sort of cosmic alignment or shift in global human consciousness/a new age for man. Well I was reading the other day that there are currently 3 initiatives going forward and gathering signatures in California for marijuana legalization and taxation in 2012. So what if it's not the end of the world, what if in 2012, weed is legalized in Cali, creating a chain reaction that results in it being legalized all over, and a bunch of people getting high everywhere, and the Mayans predicted it? :eek:

Let's hope, dude.

Fact-wise, the most likely explanations seems to be that they decided to end their calendar on a winter equinox during which our solar system intersected the galactic equator -- an extremely rare event, which would undoubtedly have great significance to an ancient and astrologically aware civilization.
As it turns out, they missed their mark by about 15 years (the intersection occurred in the late '90s), but all things considered that's still a pretty damned slim margin of error for a civilization that existed 1800 years ago and did all of their calculations by hand.

But fuck all that -- my fingers are still crossed for some shit to go down in 2012.

It's all about the 100th monkey . You pass on a new idea to a monkey, and it goes to another monkey and another and by the time it has reached the 100th monkey, things hit critical mass and a mysterious leap of consciousness is achieved

So it's all about propagating the idea that 2012 is an opportunity for paradigm shift, and this idea is suppose to manifest action out of the collective that believe in such an opportunity

The opportunity comes from the whole mythos and mystery surrounding 2012 and how it represents multitudes of possibility

That being said, I've given up on 2012 and changing the world, because I feel we are doomed. Doomed to what, you might ask. Probably something like World War 3 and a global economic collapse leading to widespread chaos. I am willing to change my mind but it would be hard to change the minds of millions of people.

I think it is possible that a huge chain of events may occur. It might just take a few things like legalising marijuana, forcing people everywhere to question their assumptions about the world, leading to much more than marijuana

To everyone, it's not just the Maya who pointed to the 2012 date!  There's actually a shitload... Aztec/Inca/Hopi/Pueblo/Cherokee/Tibetan and more.  Even the stone calender located within the chambers of the Great Pyramid at Giza ends in 2012.  Never before has one date been so significant to so many cultures throughout history.  Sorry for bringing the seriousness!
