turning invitro cakes into casings?
    #1124437 - 12/09/02 11:55 AM (14 years, 5 days ago)

well the 2 jars of creeper i had that i thought were contaminated, ended up just being bruised, and i have been thinking about turning them into a casing.... the only thing is they have been out of incubation for about 8 days, is that to late to turn them into a casing (i haven't seen any pins yet) or should i just let them pin invitro?

if put the 2 whole cakes (1/2 pint) in a bread tin, would i even need to put any other substrate in there or could i just case it w/some verm and be done with it?

when casing, you should not add un-colonized substrate. break or cut up the cakes and put them in as level as possible, maybe breaking up smaller pieces to fill spaces. i slice, put down slices and break up pieces to fill in holes then cover in casing material. so yes, you could just case in verm and be done with it.

"It's never too late for a new begining". About the invitro part of your post. You need to clean off the cakes before breaking up into a casing. Any mushroom matter and invitro pins will rot.
