White Afro?

Hey there, I just birthed a cake last night and put it on about 4 inches of soaked perlite, which i have in a nice sized Tupperware container. I put the cake upside down on a small square of aluminum foil after i had done the dunk and roll, and i sprayed the dry verm on the cake a few times over a few hours to make sure the humidity would stay high. I checked my cake this morning, and there was a fuzzy white afro all over the entire cake, probably sticking out about an inch or so... Is this the mycelium just colonizing my new verm? i was pretty surprised to say the least, since i hadn't heard of this happening...

Any thoughts?

That kinda sounded like you saturated your filter layer of verm.... soaking in all the contams that got caught there... Did you dunk and ROLL or did u use the original verm layer..

Eather way sounds pretty bad.

But, for real thats a pretty heavy cobweb infection.. h202 might not be able to save it if you have any other projects going on keep that away from them..

i think its time for some ethnic cleansing.

get rid of it don't even bother with the h2o2 and soak the jars in bleach for 24 hrs too.

i have this going on too in some jars from an lc i made off of a plate that looked good. but bam bro showed up in the jars and the lc went cloudy and i checked the plate and guess what...........bro was there too. this guy gets around and a Little i enough. i suspect that it is inter mingled into the mushroom myco so h2o2 will get rid of the visible signs but i do not think bro will go..... bro is here to stay.

yeah, i just poured some h2o2 on it and it's still around... what a buzzkill (literally), it was the only jar to colonize... but i only did 4... what can i do to prevent this in the future? can i dunk and roll with h2o2? can i use some clippers to shave it down? corn rows?
