Outdoor project.
    #11082027 -

Well me and my friend already dug kick ass pit in the woods that we going to feel with good soil- we will put nylon tablecloth at the pits bottom, of course with some holes for draining, little bit of little stones on it and then we will case it with rich soil.
Again a nylon tablecloth will be used to put on the soil to prevent:
-To much rains water to drip in
-Unwanted plants growth
Holes will be cut and few seeds will be planted.

The pit itself for now is 1.5meter long, 0.5meter width and about 1.2meter dip :awesome:

The problem my seeds i have just don't want to sprout :/ maybe to old or for some other reason. The temps is always around 71F` and i use perlite to sprout them.
Well i guess ill have to get from somewhere seeds, the problem we already wasted some money on this project and going to waste even more so seed banks not a good option, so you have any suggestions what to do?

It was hard work because Israeli soil is not the best: few inches of poor soil then you start getting ALOT of rocks. :banghead:
Between the hillside faces to the east

I'm taking pictures of this project, I'll start posting when we already plant the seeds, maybe when the plant 10-20cm long =]

Just as a little treat :P

Sorry for the quality, the picture was taken before i got my new camera...

Any thoughts and just question would be appreciated :yesnod:

Investing in some decent genetics is key in successful ganja growing projects. So I'd recommend buying some good seeds anyway, or perhaps try to get hold of some rooted clones.

Btw, be sure to remove the nylon stuff once you're done with your grow. Leaving non-biodegradable shit lying around the place is bad practice. Also keep in mind that ganja loves a lot of light, so a shaded spot in the woods may not be the ideal place to grow it. And how are you going to get enough water to that spot for a decent harvest? In your case, I'd rather try a different approach: get hold of a shitload of seeds, sow them in many places on south-facing slopes. Don't do any soil-conditioning or watering, just let nature do it's thing. Then when harvest time comes, collect the plants and extract the hashish in classic Moroccan fashion. Costs much less effort, and the method has been used successfully for thousands of years.

Fast reply

Well we thought about the water and we have 2 options:
-Come each 1-2 days and water the plants (its not that far from my house.
-Bring there a big container of water which will be on height, to the container will be a attached a pipe and by the gravity the water will go down the the pipe.
The pipe itself will be around the plants and in its end it would be closed, in the spots the pipe will be around the plant little hols can be cut and water will be slowly dripping 24hours. Every, lets say 4-5 days I would come and fill it up  If you didn't got the idea it will be like Drip irrigation :crazy2:

To your idea of spreading the seeds every where, its worth the try but likely wont happen. Israeli weather is very harsh: To high temps, to strong sun and almost no rains (its raining not for to long and again you have everything desert like ).

It would be cool if you could get the drip irrigation thing working reliably. I think the daily trip to water them manually will become a nuisance very quickly indeed, so it's good to think about 'unassisted' watering schemes.

That's a pity. I've never visited Israel, so I basically just guessed that the moroccan method of cultivation would work. Alas, I guess.

Already got air conditioner plastic, transparent pipe =]
I think its to thick but we will see

Also i need to think of a way so when THERE IS rains my plant wont get flooded -.-'' (You know the rains here in Israel are spread only in about 2 months, the whole amount of water in a very short time unlike London which the rains are the whole year, and the difference is noticeable :P)

I think of making some kind of transparent pavilion in the winter time and also do that the water wont floor the growing area

Choose a spot that has good drainage, so it won't flood that easily. The pavilion/tent thing may come in handy as the buds mature and the weather happens to be humid; it may prevent top rot. But make sure there's good ventilation around your plants.

It wont be really a tent just one side pavilion so if there is any direct rain, the area wont get to wet.
The area has excellent air ventilation. About drainage- its an hillside so there will be anyway some water that will move, just thinking of making soil and stones barrier (there is already some kind of barrier of the soil we dug out )

Correctly i dont have the money to buy seeds for the full stores price. Guess trading discussions about illegal plants is not allowed right? :P

In that case, the tarp may come in handy if you have a wet harvest period. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with it.

Fox Farm, Ocean Forest! ... Great stuff. I generally do Hydro anyway, but I have a buddy that uses that soil indoors and it is fantastic. Good quality soil is good quality soil, indoor or outdoor.

If I were in your situation, I would backfill that hole with about 40-50% original soil and the rest a quality compost.  I doubt you're going to get Fox Farm products in Israel but in any case it's pretty expensive.  If you've got worm castings, blood meal, or bone meal, they would make good soil amendments as well.

Your irrigation idea sounds good if you can get it fine tuned to deliver water at the appropriate rate.  I would pass on the nylon, especially in the bottom of the hole since it will only limit root space.  A good thick mulch layer of straw, bark mulch, or some other organic material would keep weeds down and retain moisture in place of the nylon on the surface, too.

oops... Didn't notice that he is in Israel... Yeah man... Blood meal, worm castings, bone meal, I've even used Bat Guano with MUCH success... Expensive stuff but MJ plants seem to LOVE it...

Thanks guys!!
Pattern, I thought about the bottom nylon because there are like 3-4 trees very near to this spot(like 2 meters)
So i afraid the would take advantage before the MJ.
I guess it wont limit the root space because i almost 100% sure the MJ wont grow outside of the good soil into the other soil.
You see Israeli soil is poor in nutrients and has to much little stones in it and its to compact(MJ DON'T like it from what i know).
Also when you wet Israeli soil it becomes smthing like clay, air hardly can pass also water so I dont really think i will add it to any soil huh ^^.
Well if you have other ideas would be cool  :awesome:
Malacht- well i see there is a sell of some potting soil : 50 liter or so for 6-7$ =] I still need to go there and see its quality
I will need alot of soil because its pretty big pit.

Edit:
Capacity (do the math :P)

1 liter= 1000cm3
so:
we have 1.2 meter
0.5 meter
1.5 meter

capacity= AxBxC
so- 120x50x150= 900000cm3
900000/1000= 900liter  wtf. i did all right and its gives me to big number. i did by another way and it gives me 900liter(when you do the same just with meter and by the end you divide by 0.001- its meters3 to liters.
900 liters x[

Clay or not, mixing compost with the original soil will work well.  Potting soil can work outside but it's meant for container gardening while compost is nature's original way of creating quality soil.  Do what you want but I think you're over-thinking and over-complicating things.

Ok man  between the ground i dug it full of little and big stones + stones powder (for the digging) so i guess it wont work anyway...

Any1 found mistakes in my calculatins, 900L seems to much for this hole huh.

Edit: Yeah, I think I should stick to gardening and leave the maths to the smart peoples.

It should also be fine to use the soil that was dug out of the hole, I have grown in sand before and it worked fine. Go with what PatternOfChaos suggested and re-use about 25% of the original soil, add to this some compost and you will have a reasonable medium to grow your plant in. Also mulch on top of the plot will help to conserve water and cut down the times you visit the plot. Got seed yet?

Nah dude you've got your conversions way out
1 cubic centimeter = 1/1000 litre.
1cubic centimeter = 1/1 000 000cubic meter
so 1cc = 1mL.

if you have 1.2m x 0.5m x 1.5m then you'll need 0.9litres of fill.

you will definitely not want .9 of a cubic meter.

Thanks kanker
Karode- Yeah i got my seeds from a friend
Here what he grew so thats what im going to grow :yesnod:
Enjoy:

Ok so the planes changed =] For now we only put there a pot full of soil because:
-Its already getting colder (even Israel) but i guess for the next month it still would be around 30c`
-To see if the plant can grow in that climate spot!
If all goes good we will plant as originally planed next spring :omgawesome:

I'll keep posting the progress.

Ok 1 more question!
You have any ideas how can i keep away little animals and birds from my plant? O.o
