I just wanted to get seeds so i could have more plants next time. But you are right, I should worry less about that, more about growing it well and as a decent smoke.
Still my question stands: "but how necesarry are nutes? And if they are really, truly, badly needed, what would be the cheapest/easiest nutes to go with?"

Hey man.

I don't mean to discourage you or anything but you need to do some reading about plants and how the grow. Also, your plan doesn't make the most sense. If you are planning on getting a bunch of seeds why are you bothering? are you planning on getting enough seeds to do a large outdoor grow the season after this coming one? If that's so, just go buy a bag of mexican dirt weed and you'll get 50 seeds per half oz or so.

I had a few high hopes attempts at growing when i was younger and i failed miserably because i thought too big instead of focusing on 1 or 2 good plants.

...that makes a whole shitload of sense. Still planning on growing, and still reading more and more. Just interested in anyone's experience in the matter, in addition to the reading.

The growing has begun....
2 plants sprouted, put in pots in my yard until they are strong enough to withstand nature and be put into holes I dug and filled with soil.
Got about 10 more seeds begining the germination process today, and began 7 other seeds yesterday.

Let's do this!

I plan on growing not because I want profit, but because I want to hook up other people. It sucks getting screwed by weed prices, and I want to help people avoid that, even if only by a little. Also, I really enjoy gardening. A lot. And I want to give weed a try. Weed, poppies, cacti. Fun stuff.

Thanks for the advice, impgl, that is an interesting story. I will look into working with red dot.

The bad thing about selling weed for much lower than market price ($5/gram) is that people will buy it and sell it at market price ($15/g). So in the end you're not really helping anyone get weed for cheap, you're just making money for other people.

I kind of need to make money off of it anyway. I need a way to come up with funding for other things I plan on working on, such as mushy cult.

By the way, just put 6 seedlings outside in pots, and the one that has been out there longest is still not strong enough to hold itself up(I am bracing it with a twig). But I put out those other 6 very quickly after they showed their first baby-leaves, so they should not have an etoliation problem at all. Unless something very interesting happens before next weekend, I will update again...umh....next weekend.

I need advice. What do you guys reccomend as nutrients, and in what amount should I add them to the soil and with what frequency? Any advice on the kind of nutes and such would help. Remember, I should probably add more than I would if I was growing indoors.

if its good soil, dont add nutes for 3 or so weeks, then something organic like bat guano (dr earth might be available in deo) with high nitrogen. but i would add just plain water with *maybe* some superthrive in it, which will help em get used to the out doors (has a lotta b1 vitamin). if you can, grow em indoors until after 3 or 4 sets of true leaves appear then slowly get em used to the outdoors, but you dont have to. just a better chance of survival.

Ok, so I have had this happen a couple times now: the stem on one of my seedlings has snapped near the base. Not into two pieces, but the seedling and 90% of its stem are now lying on its side. What caused this? Lack of water? because for the first time, i took a hydrometer (or whatever the meter is for measuring water content) and checked the pots. They were pretty dry. And I realized something: My soil is so well drained, that I have not been watering enough. Maybe this caused it? Or is this normal when growing seedlings outdoors?

Umh, I am not supporting them at all, unless they snap, in which case I hold the plant upright by securing the stem loosely between two sticks I lay across the lip of the pot.

i had this too... i have no idea what it is, i think just some strains have weeker stems at the beginning (so some strains need to be planted deeper). what i did was to put in more soil... jsut dont cover the leaves obviously
