I personally don't think PCing with the lids tight is a good idea, but as long as you have holes in the lids you'll be OK. They'll be a bitch to get off though.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you read about pc? How did it go?
I would never do that because if they heat up too fast, and the steam can't escape from the holes fast enough...you do have holes don't you? they could shatter and make a big mess. I put the lids on very loosely and just put tin foil over each jar, that way theres room for pressure exchange but water won't get in your jars...
Did they explode?

Escape to where? The jars are in a pressurized container. You know, pressure cooker?

If you have no holes, and pc with a tight lid on your jars, they will crack. Maybe not the first time you do it, but continue on that course and you'll end up with a pressure cooker full of substrate.

The jars are not pressurized, the cooker simply uses pressure and water boiling temp to reach hotter than normal temperatures. The contents will heat up, and therefore expand, and if there are no holes or no loose lid to escape through, then it will find another way, namely the glass of your jar.
If you don't believe me, feel free to continue doing this, but you may find yourself a few jars short in the future.

Well....I dunno....i guess i just figured water vapour expanding to steam with out an escape for the pressure could cause a few problems.....guess not!
