Yah if you want to make everything from scratch go with cubase, or fruity loops, it has less of a learning curve.
The two I posted are more for copy paste.

Scratch is the only way to fly from my perspective, if you want something to be yours, you must create it.

See I want to learn about all that shit.
I used to mess around with fruity loops, but I want something different, I remember not really liking the sounds I could get..
I want to do a combination of editing samples and making my own sounds from scratch, that would be cool.
Which one is good for making your own sounds?

Are you talking about keyboard/drum samples/ or what effects work good. Cuz they all cost a ton of money. I am fully capable of producing a CD live or in the studio. I have session musicians that I record with all the time.

there's nothing less creative about copy pasting than making it from scratch. if anything you have less to work with, thus making it more difficult.

Firebox or lexicon for your interface. some Drum loops you need to pay for ,I went and got a digital drum pad and beat out my drums by hand when I got a spurr of the moment idea, get a drummer with electric drums or a drummer w/a lot of equipment,or pay for those drum loops dearly, they are good when you edit them. Cakewalk fucking rules with a Pentium 4 and win.xp or 2000. pro tools wont interface with most applications and hard ware,as I have found out years ago. High dollar software only interfaces with certain hardware. Cakewalk and ozone3 fucking rule buy it!

Yep yer right ! Music needs to be played not reproduced and cut/copied like a bunch of club Dj`s. However if your stuck in a dorm and you got some great music ideas that ya just need a beat for then loops would be great. I h8 them only because I have access to people w/high end equipment. Those guys that play all the instruments:guitar write the lyrics, keyboard, loops, bass, vocals, harmonies. Record and master. The end result is your smoking a joint in your car and listening to your own CD,cruising down the road. Hell yea there's nothin better than that man.

I know a lot of club dj's (wedding dj's).
But that's not the same as someone say like, Girl Talk taking 5 different songs and making a mash up.
It's no worse than what most people do on guitars, changing up some chords from their favorite band and throwing some distortion on it with new lyrics and calling it their own.
I don't have access to anything but my old laptop and 2 turn tables and a mixer, I feel a lot more constrained and make due with what I have. I don't see how anyone could argue that as not being at least as creative if not more than what you describe.

Yea. not to bag on the dj`s too much because they too have their place in the world. I am more into never playing any cover tunes or doing any kind of anything that any one has ever done. It hinders creativity as a musician. A DJ will mix up and add to things that others have done and ad his own little spin to it. That would be a different kind of music, like:club ,tech,house,etc.. As opposed to what I do which are originals that a DJ would copy or remix. Nothing bad on the part of DJ~s They're just a different sort of artist. Studio artists are as well guilty of copy cat licks. If you call these licks your own then you suck. on the flip side of that you can argue that all musicians use the same chords..hmmmm....yea. So basically an end to all those arguments are :just be you and make the music that makes you happy and definitely share it with others and try to make the world a better place to live in.
