anyone with a bad legal record...pending, or convicted have trouble getting jobs

so, ive been arrested about 15 times
mostly for drunk and disorderly, open alcohol, vagrancy, and bullshit like that.
but ive got a couple posession charges, a dwi, and a pending possesion with intent to distribute which i never took care of.  the charge is a felony, out of south carolina. its about 5-6 years old by now im thinking. 
anyway, i put in plenty of applications, and i very rarely hear back.  i find work doing off the books jobs, but as far as on the books applications i send in i never hear back.
just wondering if anyone with a shity legal record has the same thing.
i thought my background would only show up with felonys and convictions.  most of my charges are just violations.  a few misdemeanors. 
i think about going to take care of it.  but ive heard by the time the charge is 7 years old, it will be expunged or whatever.

im assuming they will hire you if you are honest with them, but i am not sure..ive always kept my nose clean and if i almost got in trouble with the cops, i would just cheese it :paranoid:

I have 1 thing on my record and its not even a conviction and it's already cost me two decent paying jobs. People see domestic violence and don't even attempt to find out what really happened.

I had a rel tough time getting a job until this one came up or me to design a commercial for the guy. We ended up talking and he thought I was a really cool creative person, so he hired me and at fucking a director of business position. Fucking A.

You never know what you will come across. I found this on craigslist and the guy wasn't even looking to hire me.

I suggest that you find someone that needs something done for te company and go in and do it and you will have a foot in the door and if your work is good they'll hire you if you're honest with them.

Worked for me and I have fucking felonies pending!

Once it's on your record it never goes away, I've been shot down for jobs left and right because of my record, the best thing to do is be honest and upfront with the employer and hope they can see past it. if you only have one felony you can pay to have it expunged but only once.

Depends on what the felony is, and whether or not the state of South Carolina will allow expungement. And expungement only occurs AFTER you have served everything for the felony. After 20? years I believe it will kinda go away, they can't really do anything to you because of something I'm too tired to remember you can look it up you have the Internet. But yeah, you're kinda screwed on the felony those aren't good.

If it's a federal felony then you're beyond fucked.

And on top of that, I highly doubt if you filed for expungement you would get you're request fufilled because of your record, no offense just saying :frown:

you're not suppose to wait for them to call you you're suppose to call them till they are sick of hearing from you or call you back with a response so they know you actually want the job and plan being a good worker that's how they know you're serious about working there.

I have three CDC/paraphernalia charges on my record. 2 underage and one adult charge and I'm barred from a lot of jobs. I just applied to 30 jobs an called every single one back. The best I could get was sign walkig and even the other ones are shit jobs. But he'll in this economy I'll take any kind of job.

I'm barred from all medical field jobs

It is but it's true. I have a clean record, because I really didn't ever want to get caught doing anything. I thought ahead.

i tell the truth on apps, and i get a lot of sorrys, but some OKs

So you're saying you never ever took a single risk? You never smoked in a car or on a porch or where you were visible through a window or anything?

I have a clean record also.
And while it is partially because I've been careful and responsible, it's also because I'm lucky.
Almost anyone who partakes in illegal activities could get caught. Sometimes it takes being stupid, and sometimes it's a matter of being caught up in a fucked up situation.

I've got a couple blemishes on my record now, unfortunately.  I never admit to having a legal record on job applications and hope they don't try to verify.

A lot of small companies don't have the resources to do a background check, try your job search there.

I've taken tons of risks.

Dealing, trafficking... I've smuggled drugs out of a military facility. I smoke in my car all the time. I get black out drunk at the bar and drive home.

I just know what I am doing.

With the serious shit I took lots of precautions.
