 1 reason for the legalization of pot.

I know that there are many reasons for the legalization of pot. However, tonight I was contemplating the currant drought going on in the Continental US, and a new thought came to me.
It would seem to me as if it is in the goverments best interests to legalize.
Weed is illegal but people smoke it anyway, alot of these people are social misfits, non-conformists, artists, and other wise free thinkers.
Pot tends to demotivate many people, mellow people out, and generally keep things cool.
Now, when these free thinkers are deprived of their pot, I feel a number of them will start being more motivated, irratable, and more active in lifestyle than they would if they had their smoke.
This seems to me like they would then be behaving in a socially unacceptable manner, causing various mischief, and performing wacky hijinks.
Alot of wich are either outright illegal, or at the least, unhealthy for the currant policital machine, such as legalization campaigning, ect.
To sum up, a stoned pot head is less of a threat than a pissed off dry pot head.

when's the last time someone died as a result of weed. unlike drunk drivers who sometimes die and kill other people. but nooooo. alcohol is legal. why don't they jsut treat weed like alcohol. dumbasses.

dude, what the hell are you talking about? weed is the fourth most popular drug in this country after ciggs, alc, and caffien.
everyone smokes pot. Just as many artists as brick layers.....maybe even more. social misfits? i don't know what one horse town you come from dude, but where i come from (boston) weed is a VERY social thing.

I think weed motivates people more than you think.
The whole reason the drug war was created was because of marijuana and psychedelics, and the fact they caused people to rally together against the government.
The government would MUCH rather a bunch of pissed off potheads with no pot go fuck shit up, rather than coming together for the good of the people. That would be disasterous to their way of life.

The thing is that right now they dont have a problem with pot smokers, so they have no reason to legalize it. There is no action being taken by the pro-MJ citizens because people are nervous that if they stand up, they will be interogated. It sucks. Nobody is saying anything good about MJ to the public, they only hear the BAD things because the editors have to edit everything that is pro-MJ out for fear of being sued. Not many people will do the research and learn for themselves, they have to hear it from the open media instead.

The only reason I think MJ is illegal is because it stays in your system so long. Unlike with alcohol where if its in your blood your intoxicated, there's no way to prove that you were high when an event happens. A hole new set of laws and regulations would have to be created and passed. Its probably too much work for the government to control the substance.
The MJ black market isn't a violent market for the most part, and its hard to make pot deadly so the government willing to let us smoke up. They will still pretend to fight it, like it fights other more rightfully controlled drugs (heroin/crack), but cops really don't give a shit about pot. They can spend less money acting like they care than they would if they regulate a legitimate market.
