i got it narrowed down for fall 2010
California State University: Chico
University of California: Santa Barbara
University of California: Santa Cruz
San Diego State University

  • i'm visiting san diego in january to see whats good over their, is it fun their?
  • i heard santa cruz is a kinda boring area..whats the hype about this school?
  • supposivley santa barbara is ranked top party school in santa barbara, kegs anyone?
  • reccomendations/comments/helpful advice anyone??

    • who the hell have you been talking to? pacific ocean on one side, redwoods and the sierra nevadas on the other, nuff said. not to mention a lively local scene, and good music just north in san fran. if i get in, i'll be going there for grad school in a couple years

    Chico is a cool town, I lived there for about 2 years. Cheap beer, pretty big bike town, and lot's of outdoor stuff to do there. It does get pretty dry there being in the central valley though.  Everything is cheap here too, and burrito trucks abound.

    Santa Cruz is an awesome place but is very expensive. The good thing is most jobs start off at 12 bucks an hour, and if you can find a room to share with some others it won't be too bad, but food is expensive.

    Yeah, Santa cruz is awesome, 45 min from the bay, so if your bored in santa cruz you are boring.


    All those schools should be fun.  My choices would go like Santa cruz, Santa barbara, Chico, San diego.  Based on the city they are in, anyway

    Umm, Santa Cruz has a lot of awesome everywhere, and drugs. Santa Barbara may have frat parties in Isla Vista... BUT Santa Cruz has hippies and psychedelics in the redwood forest...

    I see one obvious first choice. The weed is also better in nor-cal :ganja:

  • chico is obviously the easier of the 3 others to get into. i've also heard they have some great parties and are ranked amongst the top in cali??(confirmation anyone)
  • why do you say chico is ghetto most possibly because of it being near meth country?
  • for out of state student transfers for santa barbara/santa cruz it's 2.8 , i'm gonna have to work my ass off this year
  • can you hold off on sending your gpa until the first semester of this year ends(deadline is at the end of november...??

    i'm also just looking for some real college shit, keggers everywhere , parties, the real deal hollyfield.

    if anyone wants to reccomend any other good colleges.. shooot..

    Santa Barbara is the most interesting by far on that list.  If you had Berkeley or ucla/usc itd be debatable but since not the choice is pretty clear.  Isla Vista is a very interesting city I suggest you read more about it

    Chico isn't ghetto by any means, but it definitely has a fair amount of low income areas, which attracts a certain demographic. Some areas are really nice though and flourishing. I used to live out in a beautiful area way out in the orchards. I still had an awesome time there, and I'm sure if I was at CSUC I would have known alot more people around the area and had an even better time.

    damn and also why do most schools want at least 60 transferrable credits? chico is the only one on that list that accepts transfers with 30 transferrables....

    Yeah if you can get into the college based on your High School GPA and SAT scores you can transfer your credits later meaning you won't have to have 60 credits first.

    jeez that is great news, i can't wait to apply for these colleges. i just hope i still have those shitty act/sat scores around haha that seems like years ago. i'm going to try and avoid that at all costs lol and just send my 3.0 gpa bound transcripts.

    go to UC Santa Barbara. Its beautiful and a pretty good school if you're going for science/engineering

    Chico is weak
    San Diego is alright
    Santa Cruz is full of hippies. But u will be able 2 get mad drugs.

    Youll have trouble getting into ucsb with a 3.0  If you plan on trying out ucsb pick  your major as undeclared or something stupid like physical education or some bullshit.  Its a top 10 physics, chemical engineering, material engineering and such school so a lot of people with good gpa's apply there.  Make sure you dont pick a science at first.  You can always change your major once you get in, something most people don't realize at first

    true even with a 3.0? i'm undecided anyways so i'm going in with an open mind.

    with a 3.0 i'll have no worries at chico/santa cruz/long beach . i'll still apply to uscb though, even though they say on their site that the state of california is not accepting as many applications due to funds. >!>?>?!

    San Diego baby! Home of the Chargers...plenty of shit to do here. The rental prices vary here and you wont get fucked int he ass like in Santa Cruz or SB, never been to Chico.

    San Diego has hot chicks and beaches, we also have cannibus clubs, though not as big as LA, but LA is only a 2 hour drive!
