Have you always been the same person you are today?
    #10848733 -

If not, then what do you think contributed to changing who you were? If so, then are you satisfied with who you are now?
Have you always been the same person you are today?
You may choose only one

Mushrooms, zen, trying to look on the bright side, trying new things.

I've got a long way to go. We should all be satisfied with where we are, yet work to be better every day. If you're not getting any better every day, there's something wrong! That said, I'm not satisfied with myself....need to hit the cushions.

Things you can do to help yourself:

Try to stay sober more often.
Make some good friends if you don't already. (need to work on that)
Get enough sleep
exercise
eat healthy food
prioritize things in your life, write them down, stick to them!
help others
find a hobby you really enjoy

I feel like I'm the same person I was when I was young. Sure, I've learned a lot of lessons, grown physically, and changed my behaviour, but for some reason I feel that I'm the same person with same personality and emotions.

Have the people in your life noticed this?

So who are you, then? Do you only change when it benefits you socially, or do you have other reasons?

I wanted people to be able to discuss this as openly as possible, because for some it is a very sensitive issue.

Standing could also be very peaceful, sometimes you just need to turn off the ignition and just let yourself be for a while.

Did you ever meet someone, then see them later in your life when you were a completely different person? If so, how was this experience?

What do you think contributed to this?

Every one of us is constantly changing. We can't escape the effects of time. Even sitting in a dark, silent room, the consequences of that under-stimulation will soon manifest within us. The longer we sit, the :crazy2: we become.

We may be constantly changing, but I am talking about major differences in personality. For example, has anyone turned from a ghetto thug to an emo fagbitch? :emo:

I change because I feel the need to, which always benefits me. Not socially per-say, but spiritually, physically, psychologically. If it happens to benefit me socially as well, so be it.

Example: Working out daily. This has caused me to stick to a more strict schedule, so that I may get everything done that I need to, but has made me healthier physically and  I'm often happier (mentally healthy). It has also had the side effect of improved looks, which makes for a social improvement. Though that was not the original goal.

The only changes I have made for social reasons are my haircut and the fact that I shave often. I used to have long hair and not shave for weeks or months at a time. It didn't bother me, but other people found it strange. I changed it mostly for employment purposes.

anon 1, im bipolar, so that social anxiety has been stuck with me ever since i was born.

i remember that i would NEVER talk to anyone in kindergarden, even classmates except when i desperately needed help. I would actually talk to the teachers more than any classmate. ironic, huh? it's actually stuck with me until junior year..thats when i was like "ahhh, im bored. gonna meet new people"

yeah, i had a major personality change around the time i started using psychedelics. i became much more introverted. i'm nearly sober now, but that has stuck with me a little.

I had to go with YES on this one...but only on a minor technicality

you see:

who I am is someone that changes who they are to adapt to their environment (I call it the mirror coat concept)

the idea is that:
  • when I'm around pseudochristians - I become all holier then though
  • when I'm around african americans - I become a wigger
  • when I'm around preppies - I become stuck up
I adapt to my surroundings

but this is something I have always done...so *technically* nothing's ever really changed for me when you get right down to it
