The company I work for is about to nose dive.
    #10693218 -

When I started here 5 years ago, Budgets were fat, profits were plenty, and things were on the up and up. Now, for the past two years, there has been a drastic decline. There have been two layoffs, salaries were cut, bonuses were cut, health insurance went way upppp. They even started nit picking, cutting out purchasing things like notepads, pens, etc. The cut my expense allotment in half.

Now, there have been nepharious things requested like "a master sheet of passwords" and "documentation of Daily routines".

I sense there may be a sell off of this tiny mickey mouse outfit, or worse. I know I don't have any rights as an employee in the state of texas, but I don't know what else to do short of trying to find a needle of a job in a haystack of unemployment.
My salary was already cut 5%, my profit sharing is non-existent, which is about $400 a month (Was).

What can I do to either A. Protect myself, or B. Take comfort in getting shit canned eventually.?

your me man. excatly what happened at my place. i have been there 4 years yesterday. 4 years ago, money to burn, 700 orders in the computer at all times. last week there was 4 orders. two thirds of the plant has been layed off. when we leave rooms we have to turn the lights off. feel like a kid again. leave the light on at work and i am gonna get grounded. i would take comfort that you will be getting some time off. take the unemployment and relax a week or two. then find something new. change is good.

I agree. But I fear the change so much.... I wish I could embrace it, but I've been through hard times before. This should be familiar territory by now.

Times are changing. I can feel it. I see it in the media.
I felt a multitude of hateful emotions towards our government when I heard about the kids dressed up in hero costumes in central park being arrested because they had no permit to be in costumes...

I bet Licoln and Washington are pounding on the lids of their caskets.

this is how i think of it. if my company is taking money or benefits or anything away, i dont want to work there anyway. everything in this life never gets cheaper. prices on everything are always rising so if your paycheck is staying the same or declining then your moving backwords. everyone strives to be comfortable and to be able to buy the things they want.if your company takes money away or you lose benefits because of bad times then how long is it gonna take before you get a raise. i will tell ya, i long f=dam time. even if they start picking up there gonna take forever to put the money in your pocket because of the fear of it happening again. so no raises for 2 years or more. so if the company doesnt lay you off then you are at the best your gonna be for years to come.as prices of things (gas, cigs, hookers, whatever) keep goin up your paycheck goes down or stays the same. as sad as it sounds, at that rate. you right now have more money than your gonna for years. fuck, with all that i think i just depressed myself. im gonna get drunk

While not actively looking, you should always be increasing your marketability.  Whether it be by networking, or adding to your CV/resume.

I try to follow a simple logic:  Most of us have to work a set number of hours per week.  Since you have to be working anyway, you should spend that time bettering yourself in case shit hits the fan.

More specifically:  Start looking now.  Save as much as you can to get through an unemployment spell and brace yourself.

The whole global economy is basically one big pyramid scheme. Total collapse has just been delayed, not staved off. Man breeding another billion people every decade doesn't exactly help either.
Better start to get self-supporting energy- and foodwise soon. And stack up your arsenal. The Mad Max scenario is right around the corner.

Well, just 5 minutes ago, I had my pay reduced by $2,000 a year and they cut out my company related expense reimbursement.
