Police encounters while hunting? (Australia)
    #10439798 -

Just wondering if anyone has had any close calls or been busted by cops

while hunting for actives in Aus? (Or knows someone who has)

I'm from Melbourne so I'm particulary interested in Vic stories.

Cheers

Yeah, theres a couple of episodes of the Force on youtube where they bust shroomers.

Just interested if anyone on these boards has any stories?

Nah never been busted or know anyone that has but let's be honest here, are cops (especially melbourne ones) gonna be bothered stopping hunters. Unless your on private property (including state/national land) i couldn't really see them caring too much. However frolicking around the botanical gardens with a plastic bag wouldn't be the wisest move.
I hear every now and again in the news (ever so reliable) about shrooms being found in drug raids but if you've been busted for a meth lab or a couple of hundred pot plants, then shrooms are the least of your worries haha.

I had cops see us 1 time, they came up, but we haddent started yet and we had DH bikes, so we said we were out finding jumps and similar. No probs at all.

Nice one. I also have a DH bike but they kinda look out of place in suburbia haha. I'm not really surprised there hasn't been any 'real' stories. That said the thread isn't even 12hrs old yet:rolleyes:

South West Aussie cops would have to be the most anal about picking shroom's.

I got caught with a kg nearly 5 years ago..
I had mug shots, finger prints taken on the spot and then they let me go..(took the shrooms of coarse)..
I didnt get away with it that easy.. a few months later I recieved a summons to go to court or just plead guilty and pay the fine of $400..
It was the only mark on a clean police record..(it's okay.. never really had any desire to go to the US.)

Anyways.. In West Oz I only pick at night now... And I really enjoy being in the forest by myself in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night...
Just the spot for a bit of DMT...

It's very much up to the discretion of the police. Remember, don't incriminate yourself if you get caught. Don't fess up, that's just giving them information with which to charge you. If you do get caught, best thing is to say you were looking for edible mushrooms and thought they looked edible. Deny any knowledge of magic mushrooms if they ask. If they can't show intent it's much harder to obtain a conviction.

Exactly.

Simply say you like cooking wild mushrooms and you were collecting some to eat for dinner. Dont say "magic mushrooms" dont say "psilocybin" (sp?)... DONT LIE like an idiot or admit to anything illegal!

If they ask to search you or your car, say you do not give them permission to search and ask if you are under arrest, if they say no, then ask for permission to go!

Be polite.

i see your point JJ but is cops saw me and my mate looking for shrooms i think they would instantly put the two together, we dont look like the types who would collect some for dinner

if they see you looking for shrooms just say youre looking for a.muscarias i reckon!

and dont hang around your patch long after you have picked

To be honest the only way I think I'd have problems with the cops is if some wanker dobbed me in, as my patch is in a park surrounded by houses. I'm usually in and out within 10 mins though so I've probably avoided any suspision thus far..

Yeah I agree with you 123ABC, anyone who looks remotely alternative/punk/goth or poor/homeless/chemically enhanced is an immediate target for piggery.
I try to avoid wearing patches and hoodies when I'm on public transport (fare evader!) because I always get targeted.
The same with cops. They just love discriminating!

Fortunately (for me), most of my friends are far more conspicuous than me, so they get most of the bullshit.
Unfortunately, I like talking back. Thus, I also agree with being polite. But not too polite. Being sarcastic brings out the asshole in them.

I find it's much easier to go home and stab and strangle a pillow than to use a forked tongue.
That way, no-one ends up with a criminal record (hopefully).

As for my personal experience shrooming, I haven't been yet, but if I'm bullied, I'll be sure to bitch about it here!
I find Victorian police are particularly heinous. They're hell-bent on inheriting the Earth. Not that all cops aren't that way inclined, but Vic cops are just fucking evil.
Give me a Sydney cop over a Melbourne one, ANYDAY!
