The New Biology - Where Mind and Matter Meet
    #10374295 -

This is a lecture by Bruce Lipton.
I have thought of posting this firstly in the M&P section , but now i come to think that there is nothing mystical nor paranormal about it.

Whatever your beliefs may be , i find this to have much value for Philosophical discussion.

Its Long. Yet i encourage anyone curious of seeing how medicine and biology has gone awry on a FUNDAMENTAL level to watch the entire thing.
The more you watch.. the more things seem to connect.
Sooner or later.. following factual EVIDENCE you will begin to understand correlations you never thought were present.
Similarities you never stopped to notice.. and overall..
You will understand how all the spiritual mumbo jumbo you've heard of and maybe disregarded , actually has a very firm , provable basis in biology.

The mans basic argument which i believe can spark some curiosity is that biology must be in accordance with physics.
WE are talking about organisms , evolution of the organism , life .. all this must follow a certain set of physical laws.
Apparently.. modern biology still uses (outdated) practically debunked Newtonian Physics and the darwinian theory  of evolution.
Take a look.. and you might realize why it doesnt work.
Why it never worked to do anything but fuck shit up for us.. and take our money.

I understand some of you cannot spend the time to watch the video when you can read up on stuff much quicker.. but  i think you wouldnt really get the same effect when it comes to this.
This one.. you just gotta see in order to truly understand it.
My , always, humble opinion.
:crazy2:

Enjoy

I won't bother watching these 2 hours and a half unless someone tells me the guy actually does something to actively promote his "new biology", something that cures people, society, the world (does he deliver ?!) rather than simply milking the crowds' underdog fantasies by stipulating and complaining about his peers' close-mindedness ?

Must by quite a sight, all these glimmer of hope and awe in hundreds of eyes of a gullible attendance, ready to witness the promised miracle any day now. Any day now. Nope, wait wait wait ! Any day now. It must really feel empowering.

Religion is the new religion.

Very interesting..
Someone who didnt bother to watch would say something like that.

Dr. Lipton began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973. Dr. Lipton’s research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused upon the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Dr. Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz and published in the journal Science was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering.

In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip, the cell’s equivalent of a brain. His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics. Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas.

Interesting. I find this to be a better motivation or introduction to your topic, but that's probably a matter of taste.

jivJaN: thanks for the video, its absolutely fantastic.
right now i'm at intermission and haven't tackled the second part yet, but i will as soon as i finish this post.

i wish he were a little more technical in his explanations, but that clearly isn't the audience he was going for. i think he could've fleshed out the environment ---> brain ---> cells perception process a bit more but i get what he's saying and he makes it extremely approachable for those without a lot of technical knowledge.

it's a wonderful concept he's presenting and i have to say i think it holds water. again i wish he backed it up a bit more technically, but i see no reason to doubt his overall claim.

now on to part 2...

i dunno what to say, other than

i think his logic flow could've used a bit of streamlining, but that didn't harm his message for me because i've already done a lot of reading which supports the ideas he's talking about.

once again, it's a fantastic lecture and i thank you for posting it.

Where Mind and Matter Meet

This does not make sense. Mind is a property of matter. It is not out 'there' colliding with matter.

If I have a purple chair, is that a place where wood and color meet? No. Color is a property of the wood/paint.

Thank YOU.

I really think people need to start appreciating some real science.

Just for the record though..
Tell me how you felt about this before you watched the lecture as opposed to the way you feel about it now.

When i first started watching i wanted to turn it off.
Idk.. i guess just the way it looked and how he talks kinda turned me away..
But now.. i actually have much respect for this mans work.

-Another example.. of how perceptions may be wrong...
And another example of how those with CERTAIN beliefs.. will shy away from this kind of material never getting the chance to experience something outside of their current paradigm.

 Nice attitude...

Is there anywhere I can read about this new biology, or is it only available in internet clip form?  Also, is it anything like new math?  I hope so; new math has completely changed my fiscal situation, Im hoping this new biology will do the same for my physical situation.

When you go to school.. you first attend lectures.. and then read about it in books and try to memorize.

I dont know anything about "New Math".. so i couldnt tell you.

But i do know about new physics..(quantum theory)
And its like that.

Im sure you can find loads of this stuff on the web in writing.
I prefer the video lecture.

eh, I owned a book by this guy.  "The Biology of Belief"  The idea of a cell membrane being the 'nervous system' was pretty intriguing.  I remember feeling like the guy was a bit over the top.  He didn't provide much concrete evidence, if I remember rightly.  Lots of subjective, anecdotal type stuff.

I watched the lecture and this guy has some real great points

he unfortunately is enthusiastic about 'spiritual energies' and cognitive entanglement which I do not necessarily ascend to
