insane in the membrane
    #1146546 - 12/16/02 07:00 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Has anyone here gone insane for any amount of time? I'm talking recovered shizophrenics. If so, how would you compare it to shrooming or LSD if you have taken them? Did you know you were crazy when you were crazy? Or did it just seem normal at the time. I know its a weird question, but honest replies are welcome.

ive felt crazy before, ive driven myself pretty far into some mind games created in my own head. no voices or anything or other people, but sometimes ive felt slips in controlling it and then it just being an overwhelming force blending my brain. but ive never been diagnosed with anything.

I had a very strange dream once that I can't describe because it was all abstract thoughts. It was just a looping wierd patterened, chaotic mindfuck.

I woke up thinking I was insane. It took the rest of the day to really feel myself again.

One stage in my life I felt WILDLY insane (not on drugs) for a couple days - I don't know if it was just a terrible depression or sheer insanity or what:

I started suspecting that there was a big "something" that everybody was aware of except me; a "something" really important and vital always on their minds at all times when anybody was around me (when actually it was just on MY mind), and that they were hiding it from me as some sort of game or whatever.... it was similar to feelings I've had on psychedelics, but as I'd said I don't know if what I was experiencing was just hard times or like really some major mental stuff. Regardless, a couple days into this I got a nasty flu and when I came out of it I was ok.. well as OK as I am now anyway

It was unbelievably scary for a while, I was definitely contemplating suicide because I felt like everybody was fucking me out of this common knowledge just to have something to do... crazy stuff, but I no longer believe it (much).

From what I understand thats similar to shizophrenics, but also similar to a psychedelic experience.. so I dunno what to think - I know I wasn't drugged.

Good times.. hey thanks for remiding me lol

Ever think what would happen if say, you wolk up in the morning. And you roll over and pop a couple tabs of acid and accidentally fell back asleep cuz it was a saturday morning. Then you wolk up an hour later tripping your balls off from the second you gained conciousness. And you forgot you had taken the acid. I don't know where I'm going with this at all.....hmmm anyways, it would be crazy, nonetheless. I like these responses, btw, I would suspect that more people on the shroomery had mental health incidences. A lot of people here are on medication for things like depression, bi-polar, and anxiety. And on top of that did you know that 1% of the population experiences schizo-breaks in their lifetimes. Thats a lot of people if you think about it. Are there just a shit load of insane people wandering around the streets and we dont even know it?

Stay away from me Dude. You're freaking me out.

Just kidding. I don't think this thread will have a lot of people coming in it and saying, "Oh yeah, I'm completely nuts. Glad to meet ya!" or "Yes, I was once hospitalized with the criminally insane. But Docs think I might be cured."

I don't think the poster wanted that kind of stuff but it will depend on how people understand his post.

I am just reading along for the ride.

Mr. Mushrooms is right. Maybe theres some way we can trick the insane people into talking to us. They are pretty tricky apparently and wont just waltz into the thread.

I hate that.  We'll have to come up with a plan then.  Tricky insane people!  That just ticks me off.

Here's a suggestion.  Go back into the history of this forum.  There you will see symptoms of true psychotics.  DO NOT BUMP THE THREADS BY REPLYING!  But you might learn a few things.

There have been people that have posted here that had serious problems.  It's sad but true.

Cheers,

well maybe i should address the rest of your questions - i kinda vented out that long story..

how would i compare it to shrooming or lsd - i hadn't done either yet - i wasn't hallucinating until i got sick (i hallucinate when i get bad colds/flus.. its consistent), and these hallucinations weren't like magical awesome visions like the ones I've since encountered on mushrooms and lsd - they were very flat just like blotchy colored thingies.. nothing impressive

Now this is where it gets hard because I haven't heard people talk about this side of psychedelics very much: "Did you know you were crazy when you were crazy?" there have been times on psychedelics where I suddenly "realize what I'm thinking" hehe and really think about any given thought that was floating by during the trip - i latch onto that thought and think "why would i think something like that?" something in me says "well because naturally there's some truth to it - why else would you think it" and another side of me says "because you're fuckin trippin out man you're craaayzzzeeeeeee man you're on drugs!"

Now, naturally, while on psychedelics I can latch onto the "becauce you're fuckin trippin out man" as backup for thinking wild and crazy thoughts.

When this was going on WITHOUT DRUGS, I didn't have anything to fall back on.. I was thinking this thought, this thought was overtaking my mind because there's REALLY no way to verify whether or not its true, because "you're all in on this." The more somebody seemed to care about my situation, the more I suspected they were trying to fool me and rub in the fact that they were playing the ultimate joke on me and there was nothing I could do other than take my own life. I knew YOU were crazy, I didn't know it was me. I put my parents through some unbelievably lame times and the whole ordeal they were simply trying to figure out what was wrong. I remember it all now, and looking back see it as a wonderfully beautiful sign of how powerful the mind can be, especially considering I came back from the whole thing!!!

This sickness (cold/flu-type thing) distracted me from these terrifying thoughts for just a couple minutes - detached my conscious from these fals accusations against everybody for just a moment, and I suddenly noticed what I had been  thinking and doing, and did something that seems to lie right in between laughing and crying for a good several hours. Needless to say I dropped out of college after this (stupid idea... I've returned) and just worked crappy jobs for a while.

A dangerous idea following these three days of craziness (probably about a month later) was to verify my stability through the use of psychedelics (which quickly turned into something more than just "verifying my stability"). From what I've experienced so far, I'm not too far off the deep end to live a nice life

and make some friends along the way eh?

exactly - i was 100% convinced that everybody around me had somehow coordinated this intricate and massive joke on me.... how's that for selfishness.. but yeah.. I barely realized that it was ME in the end, maybe I just didn't want to - I've thought about that too - maybe I just didn't want to snap out of it and go "ok ok nevermind I was just flippin out for a while there..." Maybe thats what happens once they go in too far there's no use trying to get back because you're already labeled a fuckin loon. I mean if I had asked people "what IS it?!" or "why ME?!" too many more times, I'm afraid I coulda sold myself on those crazy assumptions for good..

It could be considered beauty if one would believe it to be.

"Like Louie Armstrong
Played the trumpet
I'll hit dat bong and break ya off something soon
I got to get my props
Cops
Come and try to snatch my crops
These pigs wanna blow my house down
Head underground
To the next town
They get mad
When they come to raid my pad
And I'm out in the nine deuce Cad'
Yes I'm the pirate pilot

Wit' the ultraviolet dream
Hide from the red light beam
Now do you believe in the unseen
Look, but don't make your eyes strain
A nigga like me is goin' insane"
