I find that aside from the occasional nightcap, drinking alone is futile. Drinking with friends is where its at.

Alcohol isnt euphoric to me. Only drinking in good company can make it euphoric as you get really deep into the convo and a tad carried away.

The most rapid drunk I ever got was 5 pints of 5.5% beer in under 1:30h.

Cannabis compels me to relax by myself and appreciate the intricate structure of a flower pedal, and alcohol sends me off on a naked sing along on the beach with people I don't know. It's the old next day extended slumber grogginess Vs. a little sand in your ass.

Both of them have their time and place.:lol:

thats good you realized that drinking too much is bad. the buzz is differnt depending on what you have. specially with beers since theres stuff like hops and other psychoactive plants

IMO there is no point in drinking, period.

Shittiest drug in the world in terms of methods of ingestion, the effects just flat out suck in every way imaginable. There is not one thing that I like about Alcohol.

I dislike the scene that goes with it to. No thanks.

I love drinking, and if i don't have anything to do i'm always down for a drink.  I hate getting black out, but alcohol makes me "not give a fuck about anything."  And under the right conditions, that can be very rewarding.  It also acts a catalyst for sex imo:awesome:

I used to struggle pretty bad with alcohol dependance.

I took a four year break from everything.

Nowadays, once I catch a little buzz, I slow down or stop drinking.

I probably still drink too much now.

I do usually have a few drinks everyday.

I am just glad that it doesn't rule me like I used to let it.

I pretty much decided this about 9 years ago..
By the time I was 20, I had already been an alcoholic, and swore off alcohol completely for a couple years.
Getting sloppy wasted drunk was never fun. Puking sucks. Hangovers can suck my balls.
And a couple times I learned the true meaning of  the phrase  "Too drunk to fuck".. and it pissed me off :crankey:
Watched a bunch of my friends spent night after night getting smashed for years on end
Humiliating themselves, being jackasses, doing the dumbest shit imaginable.

I didn't drink at all for a few years, aside from the occassional micro-brew or two.
Never drank more than a few beers to catch a buzz.
These days I'll stick to that routine. I'll only drink 2 or 3 times a week at most.
Even if I go out to a bar, I'll only drink a couple beers and just stop.
I much prefer a light social buzz, enough to have fun and still function..
Over being sloppy wasted falling down drunk.. any day of the week.
There's really no point getting completely sauced and going over your limit.

I feel the same way Mandrake!

To me, getting really drunk is like early childhood: It was fun at the time, and  but now I don't even remember what happened. And many times I embarrassed myself in front of strangers, like throwing up on the floor, saying something incompresshensible or putting a bucket on my head. Now, when I try to reflect on what happened, I can't seem to remember what exactly happened that day.

And whats the fun in doing something you won't remember the next day? Its like masturbation that has a climax but you can't remember what it feels like the next time you wank.

By the way, I've only gotten *really* drunk once, and it wasn't even that drunk: I still remember pulling my pants down to shit on the beach (only to rip a huge fart) and talk/slur "romantic" one-liners ("You're eyes are pretty like moon") to a girl I didn't even know (liked her because she had big boobies and a warm smile).

I don't also don't drink to drunkenness for another reason: I have a fear of vomiting (Emetophobia). I try to avoid too much drinking because of the throwing-up thing AND I have a fear of losing my virginity to a random women (who is also drunk) that I don't even know while I'm totally blasted (not sure if there's a phobia name for it, so I won't even try to find it). I've came too far to lose it to a drunk hoe-bag! I also have a fear of getting being infected with AIDS (generally Panthophobia), which can happen like in my last situation with a drunk chick with no condom ("I don't need a condom, I'm drunk!). As you can tell, i have a lot of phobia's, but I keep them under control.

Exactly the reason I stick to cannabis. I havn't really been a drinker my entire life, except when I have to help the sommelier pair wines with my food, and even then I usually spit it out.

Do you get the feeling that I'd be a pretty boring person to hang out with at a bar??
