My friends' and dealer's apartment caught fire tonight

Tonight was supposed to be a fairly low key night. I have a very important exam tomorrow that I HAVE to do well on. My plans were to go over to the pub across the street and have a few beers with some friends and get some food. I get there, I have a beer, place my order for food, then go out for a smoke a cig with a neighbor.

We're out there for about 2 minutes then we hear glass break. We look down the block and there is fire just shooting out of this top floor apartment window, probably about 15 foot flames. I'm looking thinking "There's no way that's my friends' apartment." It was.

I called 911 instantly to report it, they already knew about it. After about 4-5 minutes later there was an ambulance and two fire trucks there, fire fighters run in, have the majority of the fire put out in about 10 minutes. By the time it was out there were 5 fire trucks, 3 with ladders up to the roof and I don't even know how many cops. I went over to see how my friends were doing (guys who live in the apartment). Ran into the exgirlfriend on the way. Meh, not getting into that.

I was there talking to them for about an hour or two after the blaze started. One guy was really shaken up, especially when the firefighters came down and told him that his room was completely destroyed. The other guys (my dealer/friend included) lucked out, their room was fine, just major smoke damage.

I really felt for these guys because my dorms caught fire several years ago and I lost everything. I tried to tell them everything would be alright and not to worry about it, just console them a bit. Got one dude a hoodie from my place because he left his jacket inside and it was about 40ºF out and raining. One guy had a dog, went back to my place to get it a towel so we could dry it off and keep it warm. Their parents ended up showing up and we parted ways once the firetrucks and investigators left.

I went back to the bar right as my friends were leaving, I had my food boxed up and had a few more beers. Was talking to a neighbor of mine who also had his house burn down. Turns out this neighbor just picked up some bomb coke. He offered me a bump and I accepted. Now I'm not so sure it's coke because I feel geeked up and it's about 1.5 hours later... Hence this long ass post.

Now, I'm going to study. Woohoo! =\

that sucks man. at least they didn't find his stash or anything. imagine getting a serious drug charge on top of that..

its good your friends were not hurt. It must really suck to lose all your stuff and your home. My sympathy goes out to your friends.

Yeah they think it was a candle left burning. One guy liked to burn candles and incense a lot. He went to take the dog out and by the time got back there were flames shooting out of his window.

justin_thyme: my dealer was just about to reup and there was only about .2g in the place. Although in a fire, that doesn't matter, they know you're going through enough shit. I talked to the firefighter who let people know what was going on, he jokingly said he picked up the guy's bubbler and a bottle of Jack for himself. The arson investigators don't care either. A major fire is a very traumatic event, they just kinda let stuff slide.
