Popped my myco-cherry tonight!

I just totally ate the first veil-break of my first flush ever! (check the grow forum)

I got MAJOR wood while I was eating it.  Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I mean I knew mushrooms were phallic and sexy and all, but GOD DAMN! :shocked: :laugh:

I have tried to grow mushrooms before, but I just don't have the right luck. Best I have gotten is a little bit of the mycelium fuzz. Then either nothing happens or it just dies. If any of you live near Lacey, WA it would be awesome if someone could physically show me how to di it right. I have read lots of methods and I guess I just don't understand it all.

I have NO idea if these shrooms are more of an aphrodesiac than should normally be expected...

I will spread them around and see if I can get some kind of concencus on the matter, then I'll let you know!

As far as growing them.......

Follow the PF-Tek to a T if it's you're having bad luck, and ask questions... As many as you can think of.
Like -How moist should the substrate be?
-How long should I sterilize for?
etc...
Most questions have already been answered, but without the search function you might as well ask.

If you're not using a pressure cooker, get one. This was my friends' problem, as soon as they got one, they were successful. It doesn't seem like its worth it until after you actually are successful, but it is definately worth it!

What's the problem? They come in many sizes, you can get a small one. My friends' is 4.2QT it does 3 pints or 5 1/2 pints.

Without the top part it looks basicly like a pot.

If you need to PC outside of a kitchen, you can get a hotplate or an electric burner thing that is like a single piece of an electric stovetop.

I have an electronic portable coil already. How much would one of these small pressure cookers cost? And what type of store? Department store:-/ Wal-mart:-/

Yeah, *mart stores should have them. My friends got theirs at k-mart for $28. I've also heard about lots of people finding them on e-bay or at garage sales for great prices.

Even though the small one is great I'd recommend one at least slightly bigger if you can get it, just for the convienience of being able to do a bit more jars. Try to get one that goes up to 15 psi, I think a lot of the smaller ones only go to 10. If this is the case you might be able to increase the psi by putting a spoon over the weight like I describe here You can also usually buy an additional weight for 15psi. Don't worry about it too much though my friend didn't have much problem when only using 10.
