it's just 1 lb.  and yes im going out there to visit a friend.  that was the main reason and this just came up.

okay, so besides all the fag responses has anybody done this before and can vouch for the above method to work?  I just dont see what wiping the bags with alcohol will do.

I was thinking of putting a layer of vaseline over the vacum packed bag and then dropping that into a ziplock.

if it's just a pound, get it mailed.

if it's an entire carful, just make sure you aren't driving a beater, get it checked out first, don't drive late at night, drive like a grandma, and don't smoke in the car (that's the easiest way cops get probable cause to search without a warrant)

How often do you get pulled over normally?  Think rationally and play the statistical odds.

this is true.  i was just thinking about this.  Ive made this trip twice before and have never gotten pulled over and i dont get pulled over much at all ever.  i just want to make sure it's packaged good incase i do get pulled over you know.

Some cops look for out of state cars on the highway though.  They just troll for them.

As others have said, use common sense and you should be fine.

1.  Don't get pulled over.  As long as your car is mechanically fine, you don't speed, don't smoke etc, your chances of getting pulled over are low.

2.  If you do get pulled over, don't panic.  Most traffic stops don't result in searches.  As long as you're a clean-shaven, straight-laced looking person who can calmly answer a few very predictable questions "where/why are you going" there will be no search and you'll be on your way.

As long as u dont speed, its pretty chill to do it by car. Make sure u wrap it up right, stash it somewhere in the car, somewhere good.

The question "Do you have anything illegal in your car? Do you mind if I look? is really about watching your reaction to the question.
It's a body language thing. You would be amazed at the idiots carrying 50 lbs of dope in the trunk, who freak at the question, start fidgeting, and say "Sure, go ahead".

When out and about in public, and to and extent, in your home, there are SO many laws on the books that an Officer can use to scrutinize you.
To spite all the usual chest thumping and “Just say no” stuff, if an Officer wants in your car (or home) bad enough, there are a plethora of legal tools at his disposal to allow him (her) to do so. It's just much easier to get consent by simply asking.

The simplest way to avoid being searched, is to avoid the interaction with LE to begin with. Make sure your registration / inspection is current. Don’t do anything to get the LEO’s attention.
It’s amazing just how many people drive to and from work every day, and out on the town with their families WITHOUT having ever been stopped by LE.

Yes it is. I've traveled across states plenty of times, and never been pulled over. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm from Cali, and people don't wanna fuck with the best! :grin:
