Battlestar Galactica series finale dialogue between Gauis and Cavil
    #10028514 -

Quote:
Gauis says:
I see angels, angels in this very room. Now I may be mad, but that doesn't mean that I'm not right. Because there's another force of work here. There always has been. It's undeniable. We've all experienced it. Everyone in this room, has witnessed events that they can't fathom, let alone explain away by rational means. Puzzles, deciphered in prophecy, dreams given to a chosen few, our loved ones dead, risen. Whether we want to call that God or Gods or some sublime inspiration, or a divine force that we can't, nor understand. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. It's here, it exists, and our two destinies are entwined in its force.

Cavil says:
If that were true, that's a big if. How do I know this force has our best interest in mind? How do you know that God is on your side, Dr.?

Gauis says:
I don't. God's not on any one side. God's a force of nature. Beyond good and evil. Good and evil, we created those. Want to break the cycle? Break the cycle of birth, death, rebirth, destruction, escape, death. And that's in our hands, and our hands only. But it requires a leap of faith. Requires that we live in hope not fear.

What do you think?

I loved that series. Sci-fi, politics, religion/philosophy....good stuff.

I thought it was a poorly constructed si-fi TV series.

For example, that dialog could be right out of the Shroomery forums.:monkeydance:

Not exactly sure why, but when I read this, the image of an AIG Executive came into my mind.

For sheer delight of being
And plunged into numberless trillions of forms

Itself

One of the best actually.

On the drug scene i loved president Roslin. Taking hallucinogens to treat cancer and smoking weed with the admiral.

I think you are wrong. Why don't you take a look at my post history.  There are lots of things I don't dog on.

they didn't actually say it was weed did they? i was thinking it was a little cigar but they sure did look like they were smoking a blunt roach or something.

Regarding Gaius and Cavil. Remember Cavil is the die hard atheist while Gaius is some kind of new prophet of god which he converted from atheism. So they are actually going opposite ways.

One of the best dialogue i've seen regarding a discussion about the existence of the divine is between Helen and Cavil. I think it's episode 16 or 17 of this series. I've got to watch that again ...

When they were on New Caprica they both smoked something Roslin referred as "a bush growing down the river" or something. Judging by the obvious effects - good acting i might say - one might conclude it's something similar do weed.
