Because they are taught to be proud.  Completion of various tasks in the military result in wholesale praise of the soldiers "accomplishments" and overall supremacy relative to the average citizen.  Unfortunately from my perspective the military protects nothing, if you look at every major military operation that our country has participated in you will see resulting blowback.  For example it's easy to look at world war I now and see that our involvement in the war resulted in a power vacuum that allowed for the rise of Hitler.  The military mindset is outdated and while I appreciate the "sacrifice" made by our armed forces I also realize that the decision to enter the military is generally done so with one's own self interest in mind.  The recruiter convinces or the soldier himself becomes convinced that it is in his self interest to join and that you will make money, get friends, get training, be a part of something great, etc.  when in reality you are selling self-sacrifice to criminals who will use you to fulfill their own agenda.  I saw it with my brother, cousin, nephew, and myself.  It's a giant cocksuck and it's sad that some ones highest ambition would be to inflict violence upon someone else.

pretty much, though we arn't the murderous hand of tha state with nothing but the fact we think we are protecting freedom to be proud of. It would be differant if we had a war that we needed to be in for our safty. I mwan, I heard even WWI and II can be chalked off to baiting tactica like the Mexican American War.

The guys who wear their uniforms around all the time? Yea those guys weren't actually in the military. They are the dudes who transport MASSIVE quantities of droogs across state lines and into your little town. You should  thank them next time you see them. :awesome:

I know several people in the military.  Who doesn't?  I was in the military as a matter of fact.  It does not make me proud.
