1st cake hit by green, & caseing sterility....
    #987793 -

So i lost my 1st cake to the green today... it was mid 2nd flush.... i noticed a strange fuzzyness on the cake a few days before it turned green, it seemed like peach fuzz... anyways.. i picked the mushies off the cake and tossed it... none of the mushies are green, and i doubt that green is that toxic...

now this leads me to a few questions... 1, should i take the remining 3 cakes out of the terrarium and wash the fucker out with bleachsolution? im sorta lazy and with all the perlite in there that would be a major pain in the ass.... it wasnt like it was totally infested by green, just a little bit...
2, what can i do to prevent future outbreaks? i guess handle the cakes less? i barely ever open the top unless im harvesting.... tho when i did harvest i did so with bare hands and such.. i guess i just need to lysol the room better before i open the terrariums....

now on to the caseing question....
i just started a caseing a few days ago, 2 BRF cakes crumbled into a tupperware bowl with sterlized coir/verm placed on top...... i checked up on it today and i found 2 nice patches of myc pokeing through... BUT, i also noticed some odd fuzzy balls on top of the casing as well.... there were only maybe 5 or 6 of them all about the size of a pen head.... a few of them were stuck to the sides of the bowl (not on the caseing material) ... i dont think they were mycelium cuz they werent attached to anything undernieth... they were just foating there.... so i picked em out by hand, patched the myc. and misted the whole fucker with h202 solution....
So heres my question
when yall case your cakes or whatever, do you practice sterile procedures? i used my homemade glovebox, but i still seemed to pick up some contams....
how can i cut down on the chances of me gettin a contam in my caseings??
i dont see how these little fuckers could have gotten in there, i sterlized my caseing material in a PC, wiped the bowl + all Instruments with EtoH, placed the cakes + caseing in a glovebox.....
the only point of entry would have been the holes i poked in the foil lid...
wtf are the chances of that being the vector of contamination!!!
man i must be unlucky....
lol

i PCed my caseing materials (coir/verm) at 15 for about an hour....
just a precautionary step, most people say ya dont even need to PC caseing materials......
anyways, it seems my premptive strike worked... i checked today, and a saw a few more pieces of myc. sticking out, and no signs of contamination.... we shall see how things work out.....
