Need to see micro pics of psilocybe mycelium
    #9849566 -

Couple of days ago I made an LC of P.mexicana-jualisco (as my first attempt at growing - yeah, haha) and suspect that the jar is contaminated. I pipetted some to take a look under the microscope and see some mycelium - but whose?

I see very fine, less than a micron thick, translucent filaments growing from little grayish gelatinous patches (2-5mm in diameter). It looks like mold to me. Where can I find pics of psilocybe mycelium on the net for comparison? Something in 100-400x range for me, please, no SEM.

Thanks a lot in advance.

You should see two nuclei in each cell, except those that are about to divide, where you'll see three or four nuclei.  The focus was set in this picture to see the cell nuclei, but if I had adjusted the stage up or down, I could have pulled the clamp connections into focus.  If you don't see multinucleate mycelium or clamp connections, you're growing mold.  In addition, mold hyphae is much more branched than mushroom mycelium.

Thanks RR, but what's magnification on that image? What is the width of the hyphal filament there?

Here is what I see, stained with a bit of gentian violet:
