So what you are telling me is that from watching our television programs you have the stereotype that Americans all talk like airheaded teenage girls in an attempt to make themselves seem stupider to foreigners as some kind of manipulative social fakery??

Are you even being serious??

Yeah a lot of southerners do ask you how your doing and are being fake. I'm a southerner and I couldn't give a flying fuck how your doing. Probably why most my neighbors think I'm a dick hole.

OH I'm  sorry whats a "good southerner" asking someone randomly in passing how their doing just to make small talk when you really don't care. In case you haven't been out of the house we are the only ones that do that and Ive noticed that for years. So don't be a jerk off and start flaming.

I know and it makes me sad. When I was married to a french girl and lived in Paris I had to overcome a lot of hate and being conservative on some issues made it harder.

There's nothing wrong with small talk with strangers. All it is is usually a simple way to connect with someone else in your presence. No need to get all rude.

I'm not being rude, I was just pointing out how regional differences can be perceived ,as I see it the same as many foreigners, perhaps I'm wrong. Its just an opinion.

Maybe it's different in the south but I don't usually find small talk to be intrusive. Is everyone asking you all at once which results in a horrible reverb of drawl and spittle?

Nothing because they are snotty and selfish, that's the way I see the french.  They are smart though, we should do the same and not intervene in foreign affairs and not try to police the world.  Would save a lot of money to take care of the people in the states.

Americans are fuckin stupid, they think we rule the world or something while we are going bankrupt and borrowing money from china, etc.  Those countries could bring us to our knees if they wanted to

The majority of Canadians I have asked on the subject seem to think most Americans are very opinionated (and overly pushy about their own opinions), unnecessarily aggressive; and seem to ignore general reality in place for their own set of beliefs.

I see what your saying. But living a large part of my life in the south I have found a lot of people will shake your hand with one and stab you in the back with the other. Where as northerners and foreigners don't warm up as easily but once you have established a friendship they seem more reliable. That's my experience but I guess everyone has their own .

I don't really care about stereotypes, because only the mundane individuals in a society will live up to them,
and I have no desire to be in contact with someone as cookie cutter as that.

Formulating your opinion of a culture based on TV shows is just stupid. TV is mainly a bunch of mind-numbing, spirit crushing games shows and "reality" TV.

Well, we French guys promote culturrrrre since -52 (while you guys promote McDonalds since the middle of 19th century).
You know, we're french.
We're... above.

Well, any jokes aside, the USA are a big country though, so there isn't one stereotype, but many.
The common stereotype though is the American tourist. I'm sure you've heard of it.
